Cooking Thursday

The recipe I'm sharing today rates right up on top of Bob's list of favorites.  It has a crispy cookie crust, a creamy filling and is topped with cherry pie filling.  What's not to like?  He loves cherry.  If I was making it for me, I would use blueberry pie filling, but you can take your choice!

Cherries in the Snow
Crust:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
Mix together and press into an ungreased 9x13 pan.  Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees and allow to cool.
Filling:
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
8 ounces cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
Cream together cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla.  Stir in the whipped cream.
Spoon over cooled crust.
Spread 2 cans pie filling (your choice of flavor) over top of cream cheese filling.  Refrigerate overnight before serving.

  2. I appreciate you sharing this recipe, Mari. My husband loves things like this. He also loves cherries, and blueberries. I think I may actually have one bag of cherries still in the freezer that needs used up. If not, I'll make the blueberry pie filling. I know I have blueberries.:)

  3. Yum I can understand why that's one of Bob's favourites. Personally I'd like it with strawberry topping!

  11. I make this all the time. When Ben was single and living at home, this was his favorite dessert. As a matter of fact, I made it for our Tuesday friends when they were here the last time. Everyone seems to love this dessert. I am glad to know that Bob loves this dessert too.

  17. Cherry lover here! I laughed at our mid-week group when the hostess bought two cheesecakes, cherry and raspberry and everybody wanted cherry (her husband's fav too) This would really go over big with them!!!! I wish you were part of our group; we would eat well for sure!
