Cooking Thursday

The recipe I'm sharing today is for something I'm sure you all have a recipe for already!  It's chocolate chip cookies.  I got this from a friend at church.  Joanie has shared these for several different events at church and they have become well known there.  I made them to take along on our trip last week and the rest of the family enjoyed them too.  This makes a light, crispy type of cookie, and it makes quite a few.  I always freeze half of them.  Hope you like them too!

Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks margarine or butter
1 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 cups flour
2 - 12 ounce pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine sugars and butter and cream well. Add oil, egg, vanilla and milk. Mix together. Add salt, soda, and flour and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoons on cookie sheet or warm baking stone. Bake at 350 degrees for 17 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.

  4. That seems like a long baking time when others are only 10-12 minutes, but who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies?! I like them crispy, too. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Hi Mari! I love to bake for company, or just to have something sweet on hand for guests. This looks like just the right thing to make. I am looking it over and wonder if it's the same as the Toll House recipe? I'll have to compare them.
I haven't ever used a baking stone for cookies, what a fun idea!
    Blessings,
    Ceil
