I've talked before about the MOPS (Moms of pre-schoolers) group that I'm a mentor with. We always have fun, and enjoy some encouragement and advice from each other. I love my group of young moms!
We start with an "ice-breaker" and the one we did this past month had us all laughing. Each group was given 3 rolls of toilet paper, tape, a scarf, paper buttons and nose, and was told to make one member of the group a snowman - a fun game for February!
Our group was the first to finish, so we won the game! Here's our cute snowman.
After the ice breaker, we have a speaker or a video, and then spend some time talking in our small group. To end the morning we usually do a craft of some type.
Our craft this time was easy and turned out so cute.
We each decorated mugs. The mugs were purchased from the dollar store. We then chose a shape that had been cut from contact paper. There were hearts, and letters to choose from, or else the one that I chose, which is my state. The contact paper is placed onto the mug and smoothed out, and then using a paint pen you can trace around it, or put dots all around the edges. Remove the sticker and add anything you want into the open space or leave it empty. I added the red heart to show where I live.
To finish, place the mug into the oven at 250 degrees for 2 hours. Hand wash only.
Wow, what a delightful time all of you must have had :) It's always a joy to be a blessing and encouragement to others.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week! Hugs!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, fun!!!! And cute snowlady.
ReplyDeleteI really like the cup idea with the state shape.
ps....the wedding post below, beautiful decor for the day, and the rustic theme would fit Bud and I perfectly. The mini-light strings on branches...love it.
ReplyDeleteBeing a mentor is quite fulfilling, isn't it? Love the mug...have a beautiful day Mari.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be a mentor. The "snowman" turned our cute :) Thanks for sharing about your cute mug, you've given me some ideas for next Christmas.

ReplyDeleteI love seeing what the Michigan MOPs are up to! I love that mug idea. I may pass it on to our craft lady! We have our Mentor Panel this week. The moms fill out anonymous questions for us to answer. On all kinds of topics!! It is interesting to say the least!!
ReplyDeleteI have very fond memories of the MOPS group I was a member of when my babes were in preschool. In fact, even though my kids are in middle school now, I still get together once a month with 5 of the moms from that group!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute craft!!
I think it's wonderful that you're a mentor to the young moms. :)
