A Day in My Life

It's time to share my first day of the month with you again.  New Years Day was my holiday to work, so I don't have a lot of photos from the day.
I started the day watching the ball drop and drinking some sparkling juice with Bob, Tom and Bonnie.  By 12:45, I was in bed.
At 5:30, it was time to get up and get ready for work.

6:35 am - on my way to work, admiring the lights our town put up this year.   They lit all the trees on the center boulevard and there have been lots of good comments about it. I imagine it's about time to take them back down again.
I drove all the way to work without seeing a single car.  Every one must be sleeping in this morning!

I can't show you pictures of the people I work with, but I can show you this IV pump, which was giving me trouble on this morning. These pumps are wonderful at getting IV fluids and medication into a person in a nice, regular rate, but when they act up and keep setting off alarms for no reason, they can drive you crazy!  After numerous resets, it finally ran well. The patient who was getting this is a sweetheart, who has a good sense of humor and was laughing with me while it acted up.  Other than that, I had a good day at work.

Here's a view out the side door at the nursing home.  We have just a little snow on the ground.

On the way home from work, I stopped at the grocery store for a few items.

When I got home, I settled into my chair for a short nap before supper.  I need more than 5 hours of sleep at night!

After supper Bob helped me get out Christmas tree put away, and I changed my Dining room centerpiece from Christmas to a winter look.

We had a relaxing evening to end a nice day!

  1. Hi Mari - so fun to see your day. I sure appreciate people like you who do the work you do. My brother-in-law is a nurse at the same kind of facility. It is not a job anyone can do. I get up early for work too - 4:30 a.m.. I have to be at school by 6:30 a.m. for my first class - A hour. I love the Christmas lights on the trees in your town. Very festive. The holidays are awesome, but when they are over it is good to move on and keep the good memories. Enjoy the rest of the week!

  2. Yes, I'm sure you were right that nobody was awake, much less outside at that time of night on New Years Eve! haha...

At the auctions, we're always saying that machines are wonderful until they act up!

  7. How well I remember those 'beeps' and how aggravating it is to try to get it to stop. The trees were so pretty and the scene with the snow looks just like winter should. Have a wonderful day. Oh, love the new table center piece.

  9. You have such a great attitude, Mari. I can only imagine how tired you were after not enough sleep. Yes, those beeping things drive everyone nuts. Glad you were with a kind and understanding patient as you got it fixed. :)

  10. Hi Mari! How well I remember those IV pumps. Such a lifesaver when the work, and such a pain when they don't! Five hours of sleep. Ugh. The fact that you could get up, and be inspired by all the lights is a testament to your sunny personality!

    Have a wonderful Wednesday,
    Ceil

  11. This monthly 'meme' is such a good idea and I find myself looking forward to your post about your first day of each month. The lighted trees really are beautiful! I can't imagine that you went to work on such a little sleep! Your constitution is better than mine!! LOL I would not have been nice to be around with only four hours of sleep. Glad you had time for a nap when you got home! Have a good rest of the week, Mari!

  13. Mari, snow! I want! I hope I get! Sorry you had to work, but I know how much you enjoy your residents. I do miss that so much! I am busy helping my daughter so I don't know if I'll get back to work. I'm just so glad that I am here to help the family. Glad you had a relaxing evening with the hubby!

  14. You are blessed with good stamina in order to go to bed late and get up that early to work. I like your afghan and your winter centerpiece. Only today did I put away all of the decorations.

  15. I love this post each month. You have such a great attitude about getting up early on a cold morning and going to work. I hate getting up early. You and Bob are just like TG and me ... I'm stretched out in my chair trying to stay awake while he's a few feet away on the couch, engrossed in his iPad. xoxo
