Monday, we visited a nursery and a greenhouse to buy bushes and plants to put around Bob's new gate. He put a trellis on the side and planted a clematis to grow up it. He also put down that brick walkway, then planted the plants. It may look a little sparse now, but should fill in soon!
On Tuesday, we took Alaina to her first movie. We saw Shaun the Sheep, which she enjoys in the shorter version. This one was a little long for her (1 hr, 25 minutes), but she enjoyed herself. We got some popcorn which was a huge hit!
When we got in the car, the sun was shining on her face, so she snatched Bob's hat to shield her face. We went for supper, which was her favorite - hamburger and fries!
Wednesday was a day of working at home. I did some cleaning and sorting, also worked on a few projects I've been trying to get done. Bob worked on a new end table for our living room.
On Thursday we visited the Michigan State Extension Garden in Grand Rapids. It's an idea garden, where they try out lots of different plants, and people can wander through and get ideas of their own.
They had some beautiful plants and we did take note of the names of some.
I think these are the handprints of many of the gardeners who worked here. I thought it was a nice piece in the middle of the garrden.
There was a pretty water feature too.
The bees were very busy, buzzing around the flowers.
I have one more outing to share, but will do that later in the week so this post doesn't go too long!
What a pretty gate, and clematis will look beautiful growing on the trellis. I love the circle of hand-prints.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the new trellis, and brick walkway. I tried doing that once, and let's just say it was a disaster. :)
ReplyDeleteAlaina looks so cute; what a happy day for you all.
The gardens are beautiful, and I also like the "hands". So nice!
xoxo
Allaina is growing up so fast. I guess when you see her often you don't realize it but this amazes me. She is toooo cuuuuute!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting some things done that you wanted to, and spending some time with Alaina is always special.
ReplyDeleteWow! Can't wait to see around the gate - it's going to look so cool when it fills in!
ReplyDeleteMovie, popcorn, hamburger, fries ... Alaina is my kind of girl. I'm mad about Bob's gate with that circle at the top. Awesome. I am no gardener so I live vicariously through you two xoxo
ReplyDeleteAlaina is so precious! It sounds like you had such a wonderful week!!
ReplyDeleteI love your brick walkway and the garden gate. Spring is going to be glorious at your place.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Bob! That garden is going to look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I loved the pictures of the idea garden. And how fun to take Alaina to the movies! I can't imagine what it would be like to have vacation days that we could use for local things. Because we have so many children that don't live nearby, we always use vacation days to travel, it seems.
What a wonderful time you had! I like your new gate a lot! xx
ReplyDeletePerfect break - especially with fun grand-kiddo time thrown in! ;). Xo
ReplyDeleteYou sure do keep busy. Alaina certainly is looking older!
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute! Which did she like better...the movie or the popcorn?
ReplyDeleteWhere is the Michigan State Extension Garden? I would love to wander around and get ideas! (Coopersville-Kim)
