I know I'm a little late posting this, but here's what I was doing on September 1. (I can hardly believe it's September already!)
Here's how my day went!
I was up at 5am, took my customary treadmill walk, got ready and left the house at 6:35. It's pretty dark yet when I leave now.
Shortly after I got to work, one of the housekeepers found this praying mantis in the entryway. She and the other nurse got it into a paper cup and released it outside.
We have 2 nurses working every day. We each get one wing, with 30 patients on it. This is Larisa, who is the nurse I seem to work the most with. We work well together and have fun while doing it!
This was taken shortly before 8. I noticed it was looking pretty outside, when I was giving people their coffee in the dining room.
It was a busy day. We have some sick people, had a new admit the day before which always means a lot of paperwork. I got done shortly after 3:30.
On my way home I stopped at the grocery store. Here I am in the produce section, picking up some lettuce for our supper.
Nice blue skies! It was a pretty drive home, although it got very hot and humid. The weather people say this may be the hottest week of the year for us!
When I got home I started some laundry, then worked on supper.
We had this taco ring for supper. It's a good one to make when you don't have a lot of time, plus it doesn't heat up the kitchen when it's so hot out!
After supper, my sister Cheri and I went to a new warehouse type store that opened near us. I kep hearing about the deals they had, and what I heard was true. They had clothes, furniture, kitchen items, fans, office supplies... All new and in good condition. They are extras, many come from Costco. I got Bob a Calvin Klein shirt for $5 and docker shorts for $4.50!
On the way home, the sun was getting low in the sky. It looked prettier in person!
It was another nice day. Thank you Lord for all the day to day blessings!
Enjoyed seeing your day through pictures, and that supper looks good enough to eat...lol I love finding a bargain and seems you got two good ones. Sleep well, and hope your Friday is easy and over fast at work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and interesting post! That taco ring looks delicious. Have you posted the recipe? I love your recipes. Looks like you had a pretty good day. I want to do one of these posts, but I get busy at school and forget to take pictures! You inspire me to remember - one day soon! Enjoy the coming weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea to post your whole day. Do you do this on the first of every month? I so appreciate the nursing staff in a skilled nursing facility. I had no complaints with them during my mom's illness. You are to be commended!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of ordinary days, there's nothing like it!
ReplyDelete1 nurse per 30 patients? That seems like a lot! God bless you.
I admire you for exercising before work!! And so early in the morning. That outlet store sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteIs that warehouse type store in Allendale?
ReplyDeleteYou had a very full day, Mari (always, I think). Nurses and teachers deserve so much more pay, respect and appreciation than they get. Bless you! I really enjoyed the photos and that taco ring looks delicious! Maybe you can share that recipe with us? Yum!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your Day in the Life posts, and your pictures. The taco ring would be a great idea for one of my family dinners when the kids come over. Have a great weekend, Mari!
ReplyDeleteHi Mari! You guys are so humane, moving that mantis outside...I think I would have freaked out! (I'm not too good with bugs, FYI) It's such fun to have a sister around, isn't it? All my sisters live all over the USA, it'd be so nice to have one close.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your day!

You sure had a busy day, Mari. But then, you seem to always. :)
ReplyDeleteSome great photos, and wow such bargains you found with your sister.
Hope you're off work this weekend, and can enjoy rest!
xoxo
Thanks for sharing your day!
ReplyDeleteA full day for sure:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice day! Lots of variety and it is wonderful that you are a part of 'home' for so many . My daughter is a nurse also and you ladies are like angels to love and care for so many folks.
ReplyDeleteYour morning and evening photos awe me! I'm learning since being here to slow down more and take in the beauty that God has blessed us with. The mountains here take my breath away. I'm usually driving and can't get the photos but I suck it all in. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat was a busy day...a nice mix of work and fun!
ReplyDeleteAnother full, productive day, Mari! I decided to look on your recipe blog for the taco ring and was delighted to find it. And so many more!! How nice that they are print-ready!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading the posts about your day. I make a taco ring as well but my filling looks different than yours. What all do you put in it?
ReplyDeleteA good first day of your month!! xx
ReplyDeleteWow...great bargains.
ReplyDeleteThat taco ring looks mighty fittin'!!!
And such a great day at work...nothing too stressful, and having a co-worker that you get along with is a big plus.
The weather and sky/sun photos are super Mari.
I always enjoy reading about your day, Mari. Thank you for sharing. Have a beautiful weekend. (hot, hot, hot here too) Blessings
ReplyDeleteI was following Jean's lead to the recipe site. I was scrolling down for the taco ring but never got there. I stopped and at the peach pie. How I wish I could eat it! Gluten free crust is not the same. Yours looks absolutely delish!
ReplyDeleteI like your grocery too! I am glad that you saved that mantis. I love them! It is against the law to kill them in PA. I don't know about other states.
I admire your daily work. I would love to make the taco ring!
ReplyDeleteLoved the peek into your day. Love that you appreciate the blessings.
It's just so fun to get a peek into your days this way Mari! Looks like over all quite a good one. Your dinner looked delish! And love all the photos of your beautiful neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteBlessings on this lovely weekend dear Friend! xo
These are some of my favorite posts. That taco ring looks so good; it's been years since I made that. We did have your ice cream sandwich cake for Stephanie's birthday party on Monday. That was a big hit. xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour days are always so busy!!
