A Day in my life...

I can't believe it - it's already the beginning of another month!  As usual, I'm sharing some pictures from my day on April 1.

It was a working day for me, so I was up at 5am.

It got cold during the night.  Only 28 degrees outside according to our weather station.
I got ready and left for work, taking my winter coat because of those temps!

The sky was clear and the sun was just starting to peek out as I started out.  I love mornings like this!

When I got to work, I was greeted by this lovely sign on the door.  This is posted when the state surveyors come for their annual visit.  We are expecting them anytime and it's never a fun time!
My good mood, from enjoying the beautiful drive in was quickly going away!
However, when I got to the nurses station, I was informed that this was an April Fools Day prank.  They got me!

I thought you would like to see our fancy machine for punching in.  We have to enter our own 8 digit code, then put our hand onto this machine to have our fingers scanned.  Your fingers have to be in the right position for it to work.  It has an anti-bacterial pad to protect us from spreading germs around.

When I came out to get report, I found that the pranksters had also decorated our Director of Nursing's office for the day.  When the day was done she took out 2 garbage bags full of balloons.
I can't show you much of my day because of privacy rules, but it was a nice day.  It was the first day I've worked in several weeks that wasn't crazy busy because of an admission or a sick resident.
There were several residents trying to pull pranks on us, so there was lots of laughter going on!

When I got out of work it was 59 degrees! This is the nicest day we've had this Spring.  I took the back roads home and enjoyed the drive.

My evening was quiet.  One day a week, Bob works late and doesn't get home till about 8:30pm.  This was one of those days.  I usually take advantage of this time to watch something he doesn't care about.  In this case, I watched the Duggar wedding, which I had recorded from the night before.  I don't always watch the show, but was interested in the wedding and I enjoyed watching it.  I appreciate the way they share their faith without hesitation to all the viewers.
That was about it for the day - it was a good one!

  1. Love the way you have to sign in now...cant be too careful about people who enter the work place. Beautiful scene this morning and love the red barn. Hope you get some warmer days soon and it stays!

  2. Our weather has been very similar...frost on the ground in the morning and about 60 degrees in the afternoon!

That picture of the barn is just like a postcard!

I bet the wedding was fun to watch since you just had one in the family yourself!

  6. It is good to hear you had a good day at work, with no admissions or sickness. Not one person tried an April Fool's Day joke at my work. I didn't even try to get the security guard with my usual "Your show is untied" joke. The sunrise is gorgeous and the corn field and barn are lovely. Hope the warmer temps are there to stay for you! Have a blessed Easter!

  8. Haahahahaha the sign on the door. That was great. I stayed home and nobody fooled me at all. I'm glad you had a good day and some alone time when you got home that evening. I always enjoy evenings like that, but it's good when the men are there too. Happy Easter my dear friend. xoxo

  9. It's so fun to peek into your world Mari - but especially when you work as it brings back such memories for me. I worked with so many wonderful folks just like you & loved every minute of it! And the residents were my heart. I do miss that.

I remember those darned surveyor visits and seeing that sign that put the fear of God in all of us. Lol! I hated that time as everyone always got really grumpy. Thankfully through-out my career I always received a good report and commendations on my journaling. (maybe that's why I now love to scrapbook and blog?? Lol)

Have a wonderful holiday weekend and hopefully a nice break. xoxo

  15. When I saw that Survey Sign, I thought, Oh, NO! I was glad that it was a joke.

I wish I would have seen that wedding. We had been following that family then got tired of it, but I would have liked to have seen the wedding.
