I had kind of a crazy week, last week. A week ago Saturday, 2 ladies who were special to me passed away. One was the mom of my best friend all through school. She had surgery and just never recovered from it. I used to spend a lot of time at my friends house and called her my second mom. The other was my aunt, my Mom's sister. I have lots of good memories of her too. We celebrated birthdays and holidays with her and her family and were always close. Both of these ladies were 84, and most important, they were both Christians.
These deaths meant a few funerals and visitations for me. Although sad, we know where they are! It was good to see a lot of old friends at one funeral, and catch up with some of my cousins at the other. It seems you only see some people at weddings and funerals!
It was also a busy week for me at work. Every month, in the last few days I have to work extra to get the paper work done for the next month. This paper work is medication sheets, side effect monitoring sheets, treatment sheets, Dr order sheets and several other sheets that staff document on. It was unfortunate that this happened the same week as the funerals because it meant working some long days to make up for it. One day I went in at 5am and left at 7pm. But - I got it done!
Friday night we went to Aaron and Laura's house and watched Alaina and Ruby so they could go out by themselves. We had great fun, and tired both girls out.
Saturday was Heather's last shower. It was given by the ladies of Andrew's church which we thought was really nice. It was nice to meet them all and we had a really nice time.
Heather got lots of nice things, and I got this:
Andrews mom took these along to the shower - crocheted slippers that look like shoes! She made a pair for Heather, then made this pair for me. They are comfy and warm and I'm already enjoying them!
As I type this, we're watching the Superbowl and listening to the wind blow. We've been under a winter storm warning all day, and it's supposed to continue until 6am Monday, and they say we could get 12 inches of snow. Most everything has been cancelled around here and I'm not really looking forward to the drive in to work tomorrow.
So, that's my week. Hope yours was quieter!
Oh Mari I'm so sorry about the loss of your friends. They say these things come in threes; I hope they're wrong this time. But soon you'll have a beautiful wedding to celebrate, giving you a chance to see old friends and family members for a happy reason. Those crocheted shoes are so clever, I can't even. Andrew's mom is a smart cookie. I wish you could see our weather here! It was close to 60 degrees today. We could have eaten lunch outside but we didn't. I wish you could have a snow day off from work tomorrow but I don't suppose that's possible. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your aunt and friend's mom! What a busy week you had! Hope this week is pleasantly uneventful!
ReplyDeletelove the slippers!
I'm so sorry for your loss. What a comfort it is knowing they were both Christians. You must be exhausted from such a busy week! I hope you get some time to rest. Those slippers are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts are with you. xx
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your loss. --I do love the shoes. Blessings
ReplyDeleteMy heartfelt condolences for your losses of friends and family. It's so hard to take this all in and still feel like you...they're happy in the arms of their maker, so we should move on and remember all the goodness they shared in their lives.
ReplyDeleteLOVED your slipper/shoes. Adorable.
And stay warm...drive carefully!!
Sorry for your loss. So often life is filled with loss and blessings. The knitted shoes remind you of just one of your blessings. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteI know your heart is heavy from the loss of your dear ones last week. It is hard on those left behind, but (as you said) we know where they have gone and should rejoice in the reunions they are having. Working longer hours doesn't help, but I know watching those babies and celebrating with loved ones at the shower was good medicine! Love the crocheted 'shoes'!! Be safe on the roads!
ReplyDeleteWow! Prayers of strength lovely Lady!! That was one heck of a week! I pray that this one slows WAY down...and gets much better.
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird how little snow we've been getting this Winter - not that I'm complaining one bit. Lol Hope you don't get as much as they say.
God bless Hon and have a GREAT week. xoxo
So sorry about the two ladies dying, but as you said, you know where they are and you will see them again one day. The shoes are super great! I bet they are really warm. Be safe going to and coming from work.
ReplyDeleteThat was a crazy week!
ReplyDeleteSuch a comfort to know your friend's mom and your aunt were believers.
Paperwork makes me want to tear my hair out at times. There are so many other things I'd rather be doing. ha!
Cute slippers!
I'm very sorry for the loss of your aunt, and your friend. :(
ReplyDeleteYou did have quite a week, whew. I hope you didn't have trouble getting to work this morning. We've had a lot of wind also, but of course no snow.
Those shoes are so cute, and I bet they feel really good on your feet.
xoxo
Sorry to hear of the loss of your two dear friends, but glad to hear they went to a more beautiful world. Praying the Lord comforts their family and friends (you included).
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been kept very busy with work! Those crocheted shoes/slippers look very nice and cozy!
Oh Mari, I am so sorry for your loss. My goodness, that's a lot to have to deal with at one time on top of the work load. I remember documentation. My handwriting changed completely in 11 years of documentation. Now I guess everything is electronical medical notes.
ReplyDeleteSo, you are planning a wedding and your other daughter is getting married. Whew! You do have a lot on your plate. Prayer for you as you grieve this loss. Hold the memories dear to your heart.
I'm so sorry for these losses, Mari. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering where you were! I'm glad that you made it through your very busy week. One funeral of a close relative is enough let alone two. However, it sounds like that the Lord carried you through your busy schedule. I am sure the Ruby and Alaina cheered you up. Those booties are the berries!
ReplyDeletei'm sorry for your losses.
