Nursing Home Humor

I'm sure you've all seen the yellow, wet floor signs meant to warn people from slipping.  We have them at the nursing home, and housekeeping puts them out whenever they are mopping the floors.
Recently one of the housekeepers came down the hall laughing, carrying one of the signs.   It had been altered a little.

One of our residents thought he was being pretty funny and added a few words to give a whole new meaning to the sign.  And if you look closely, he added something to the figure on the sign as well!
He did give us all a laugh!

  1. Oh my goodness...what a character. That made me smile. I loved working in a residential home. The 'oldies' had a wicked sense of humour. They thought they could get away with anything ...and they usually did.
    Thank you for sharing

  2. Ha! Love it. The really funny part is that, if memory serves me well, you almost could post a sign like that in that environment. ;)

  3. Oh dear, I need one of those for Javier, who in his dotage has become frequently incontinent. The only problem is, he can't read (I don't think).

Also that reminds me of a story Audrey told once about humor in the workplace. She and a co-worker loved their coffee strong, so they had collaborated in dumping two packets of coffee into the filter basket instead of one. The result was so good, they kept doing it, but they didn't tell anyone. Except, somebody eventually caught on and taped a hand-lettered sign above the coffee pot: "One packet per pot makes for happy employees."

Only, someone came along the next day and marked through the words "One packet per" ...

I think I may have told you that one before. If so, apols. I don't approve of pot smoking, haaahahaha but I do like me a strong cup of joe. xoxo

  6. In a job that is mostly sad, it is so nice to be glad too! Humor is a good medicine for all. We oldies but goodies still have laughter which keeps us hanging on a little while longer.

  16. That's great! Reminds me of a sign at a pool that you most like have seen or heard of before -

"Welcome to the OOL. Notice there is no P in it. Please keep it that way."
