I can't believe it's the 1st of December already!
I'm continuing my tradition of sharing my 1st day of the month with you. I think today is a little boring. It was a work day, and no other activities, but it is what it is!
Here's my December 1:
I get up a little after 5 in the morning.
It was really cold here this morning - 24.6 degrees when I left the house.
I can't really take pictures at work because of privacy issues. Here's one of our tv area. You can see the tree in the background. They were starting to put up the Christmas decorations today. It was quite a busy day, with not much time to think about taking pictures anyway.
One of my favorite guys there gave me a laugh today. He is a little confused and legally blind, but know my voice and remembers my name. When I talked to him this morning, he told me he was unhappy with me last night. He said I left him in the basement. (There is no basement). He said he was calling for me and they told him I went home. I asked if we were still friends and he said we were but "not as thick as we used to be". Later in the day he told me he forgave me. I'm hoping he isn't looking for me again tonight. I love my residents!
Tonight, Heather and I started working on wedding invitations. They need to be cut and assembled. We got a lot of the cutting done, so we can have an assembly night to put them together soon. One more thing to cross off the list!
It's gotten cold again tonight - right now it's 17 degrees, but at least there is no snow coming down!
That's my day. It's going to be a busy week. We have to go and taste test tomorrow evening for the wedding food, and we have parties on Friday and Saturday.
Hope your December started well and you're not too busy already.
Mine started good! I like the story of you leaving him in the basement although it's kinda sad. Unless, he was pulling your leg. :)
ReplyDeleteI can tell you right now; it's COLD girl where you live. brrr
It must take a long time to get warm. :)
xoxo
Sometimes the mundane is good when you consider what the alternatives might be! And along with Christmas, you've got wedding preparations well underway. I'm excited. xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was in assisted living the last three years of her life, and I got to know quite a few of the other residents there. They can sure surprise you!! Your place of employments looks very nice, Mari. The residents are blessed to have you!
ReplyDeleteStay warm up there! I'm not sure I could handle 17° anymore! Brrr!
Wow, you are an early riser! The place where you work looks very nice--quite similar to some places where we sing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are off to a running start, this month.
ReplyDeleteExciting wedding preparations and parties ...Fun!
Cute little anecdote about your resident... **smile**.
K.
How exciting to be able to cross something off the list for the wedding! May I come go with you to taste test the food? ;-) I loved the story about your resident whom you left in the basement. It is obvious that you care deeply for the residents.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, Mari.
Hello, It's always fun seeing how people spend their day and I have always had a soft spot for the elderly. When I was a teenager, I used to help my mother care for my grandmother when she came to live with us. Wedding planning is always exciting, especially the taste testing... yum. I enjoyed visiting your blog and also thank you for visiting mine. I love meeting new blogging friends and I look forward to getting to know you. Have a blessed day... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mari - I loved reading about your day. I love your care and concern for your elderly patients. So many people cast the elderly and sick aside. You are so Christ-like to show them such love. Looks like you had a really great family Thanksgiving! Enjoy this new month!
ReplyDeleteI hope that the wedding and Christmas preparations go well! xx
ReplyDeleteKeeping busy as you do with your work and loving your residents as you do, I am positive it makes your job not seem 'a job' much. Y'know?
ReplyDeleteThat's too darned cold for me. My engine wouldn't start.
I am laughing out loud at that man. "Not at thick as we used to be!" hahaha... How cute he is! Glad he finally forgave you. lol....
ReplyDeleteAww... your gentleman at the place where you work sounds like a darling :)
ReplyDeleteBrr... it sure is cold there! Stay warm and enjoy your week. Hugs!
Oh I miss my residents. Your home looks very nice. I keep saying I'm going to visit. I've only been back one time since I left after my parents died. Enjoy this time getting things together for your daughter's wedding. I enjoyed it so much.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to be working on the wedding invitations. The story about your resident is really sweet, I have often enjoyed being with older people. I know sometimes they aren't well in their minds but the stories can be very entertaining all the same. I'm sure they all appreciate you a lot.
ReplyDeleteI just love when you share about work Mari!! It brings back so many wonderful memories from my long term care days. I loved the story about your funny fellow looking for you. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate with the COLD too unfortunately. Lol
Thx for sharing!
Im glad your friend forgave you! Cute. I like your first day of the month idea.
ReplyDeleteAlways get a kick out of the things your residents say and do! :)
ReplyDeleteWe all got a huge laugh out of your friend at work. I love reading about your day each month. I always forget to do that.
ReplyDeleteVery cold temps there. Can you believe it has been high 60's for us this week. I have been opening the windows to let in fresh air. Cute about the guy telling you that you were not as "thick" friends as you used to be!
ReplyDeleteOh bless that man who "forgave" you for leaving him in the basement. What a sad and funny story. And the wedding invitations... how exciting!
