Enjoying Summer!

I took this picture on my way to work this morning.  It was another one of those cool, misty morning. As I drove, I was admiring the scenery around me and thinking about how wonderful this weather is.
I've been really enjoying this summer.  Maybe that's because we've had such a nice summer so far, not too humid and not too many overly hot days.  Maybe it's because we had such a horrible winter, which made me realize I better not complain about the heat this year.
Shortly after I took this picture, my happy thoughts were interrupted by the announcer on the radio.  He started by saying that summer break was half way done..., I knew that but didn't want to think about it.  (Why does summer go so quickly?)   He went on to talk about the long range forecast for our area.  The prediction is for another Polar Vortex Winter....  lots of snow and cold!  I'm not ready for another winter like that.
I guess it'll do no good to dwell on it.  I better just keep enjoying summer while it's here!

  1. Sometimes pictures with a bit of mist look eerie. This one does not.
Thank you for posting such a peaceful picture.

My husband and I were just talking about winter.
I was guessing we're going to have another bad winter. From what your saying we will have another bad one. I hope that doesn't mean another ice storm for us. I also pray we are ready this year and motorists don't get stranded, again.

  2. This is a beautiful summer picture. John and I often talk about the awesome photos of you and your daughter at the frozen lake last winter. Incredible.

  8. Well here in the UK most children have 2 weeks more at school, so summer hasn't even started for them yet!

My favourite time of the year to go to AZ is in the winter because it's so nice to leave the cold behind for a week or so. Enjoy your summer!

  12. We live in different worlds! :) We were 111 degrees yesterday, and in a major drought. We need winter to get here and are praying for a very rainy season. Last winter was like spring here the whole time. The moral of this story…send your snow here!! (I wish!)

  13. It is nice and cool here today, feels good but will not last long.
I heard about what is coming this winter. Things are moving to fast in this world now that I have aged. When I was a kid summer was longer than now. The stores have school supply's out now because here school starts in Aug.

  14. Glad you are having a nice summer. Our summer break is almost over too - hubby and I go back the week after next - far too soon for me. Yes, I agree that we are happier if we focus on and live in the present rather than worrying about things in the future! Enjoy your day!

  16. HI Mari! Beautiful photo...so calm and reflective.
I try to remember how darn cold I was this winter, and that helps me stay in the moment with God in this glorious summer. It's a little cooler today, but I love it! Wish we could have a cup of coffee and gaze at the scenery :)

  17. Such a pretty scene, with which to start your day! Then the announcer has to ruin the mood! Time is going too fast, indeed. I'm sorry you are looking at having another bad winter. Plan a visit to Lakeland, why don't you?!

  21. I've thought often since the warm weather finally came to Michigan, how brief it would be for you before you have to deal with the dreaded ice/snow/cold again. But you know, it seems to me that all forecasters are into being sensational and calling for armageddon -- because it gets people all ginned up -- than actually telling the truth (which they don't in fact know). So don't fret but I sincerely hope you don't have another winter where you can't get warm even in your own house! LOL I still have the image you described of yourself sitting in your living room last Jan/Feb wearing gloves, hahahhaaaaa. Please Lord, not again. xoxo
