Cooking Thursday

I don't know about you, but I cook differently when it starts getting cooler.  This is a recipe I came across that's perfect for cooler weather.  It's got a lot going for it - it's easy to make and you get a whole meal in the crockpot. Plus - the roast is melt in your mouth tender!

Slow Cooker Coca Cola Pot Roast

1 beef roast of choice (use the size roast and the amount of vegetables you need to feed your family)
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 (12 oz) can Coke
Red potatoes, halved
baby carrots

Place roast in crock pot and top with dry onion soup.
Mix cream of mushroom soup and coke and pour over roast.
Place vegetables around roast.
Cook on low for about 10 hours.  (The longer you cook it, the more tender it gets)
Enjoy!

  5. I do the same, and usually it is lots of Crock Pot meals. I do one very similar and just love it. Soups, chili, just about anything tastes better in the crock pot.

  7. Oh my - and I know how good that makes the house smell, too! I cook more soups/stews in the winter, though winter in Florida is not like your winter! Thanks for the recipe!

  8. I've always wanted to try a roast cooked with Coke. I've heard of this so many times and everyone says it's great. I really will try it soon. Thanks for the recipe, Mari. :)

  9. Was already thinking about roast dinner in the crock pot for this Sunday.....now it's a for sure!!! We love roast dinners and then I like to make what I call hash: bite size pieces of left over roast, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion in the gravy out of the left overs.

This recipe looks good. I'll have to try it next time there is a good sale on roasts.
