August Flowers

One of the fun things about summer is the way the landscape is always changing. I took my camera into the backyard tonight to show you what's blooming now.

We have a row of Rose of Sharon bushes, and they are full of blooms. I especially like white ones with the dark burgundy center.

The phlox are just beautiful right now.

Our black eyed Susans have struggled with the dry weather. Still, they are a cheery sight!

The flowers on the hydrangea tree are smaller than usual, but there are a lot of them.

This is a globe thistle. They are a fun accent in the garden!

  2. Love all of your flowers. Once upon a time I had some Rose of Sharon.. a very big bush with the white flowers and a smaller bush of the pink...The white bush just died off.. I don't know why? and the pink one got hit by Hurricane Irene... so now I have none... I miss them.

  8. So pretty, you have such a scenic and relaxing yard.
My flowers are starting to look a little tired, I'm sure the excessive heat had a lot to do with it. However, my veggies look great!

  10. I don't think I've ever seen a 'globe thistle' before. Very unique and a smoky dusty lavender. I like that!!!

  12. My TG loves Rose of Sharon! My in-laws have several lining their driveway. And again may I say, your phlox is breathtaking. I don't think I've ever seen a white hydrangea, and globe thistle is enchanting! Purple is my favorite color!
