We spent the rest of the week near Andy's base. He had to do some re-integration every day, so we did some exploring on our own.
Andy told us to check out Clarkesville, TN which is about 30 minutes from his base. It's an old, historic city and we enjoyed our time there.

This is the Montgomery County Courthouse. It was built in 1878. Do you see the big ribbon on the wall? We saw lots of ribbons, signs and banners in the area, all thanking the troops.
This building is now a museum, but was originally a trading house for tobacco. I don't know when it was built, but we thought it was an amazing building!
Isn't this a cool fountain?
We checked out the Cumberland River.
While we were there this boat came through pushing this huge barge. It was amazing to see it navigating down the river.
We are history lovers, especially of the Civil War era, so we were happy to visit Fort Defiance in Clarkesville. It was a fort that was used by both the Union and Confederate forces.
When you see the view from the Fort, it's obvious why this location was chosen!

We spent evenings in our hotel room. It was just so nice to be together again!

Andy is still a goof off!
Tuesday was Heather's birthday, so after going out for supper, we had a little birthday celebration!
Tomorrow I'll share some pictures of Fort Campbell.

Gorgeous Tennessee! So glad you got to spend some time there. All I could think of the whole time I was reading the post was the lyrics to "Last Train to Clarksville." Thanks for that, Mari! Also I love the picture of you and Bob relaxing together. So sweet.
