Christmas Eve

We had our family Christmas celebration with Laura and Aaron and Heather on Christmas Eve.
In years past I always took pictures of all the kids together, but with Andy gone, I didn't do that. It seems my camera focused mainly on one small cutie this year!

She was sounds asleep when they arrived, in this cute Christmas outfit!

We decided Alaina was our best gift this year, so Laura tried to get her in a stocking, but she's getting too big!

When Alaina was a little over a week old, Bob and I watched her while Laura and Aaron went out for supper. I had seen an idea for making an ornament with a babies handprint on it, so I did that while they were gone and didn't tell them. I thought I washed the paint off quite well, but the next day Laura called and said Alaina had something that looked like red nail polish around some of her fingers. Of course, I pleaded ignorance, knowing it would be revealed at Christmas.
Here's their great expressions when they realized what happened:

That handprint looks so small already and she's only 2 months old.

We had a great evening together, and I loved holding this little sweetheart.

  4. Such a little beauty! She's adorable in that 'Santa' outfit. She appears to be quite cooperative--Abigail would never hold still long enough at any point so far in her life, as to in even attempt putting her in a stocking!
That was a wonderful and thoughtful gift you did for them. Laura's facial expression is awesome.

I really like the last pic the best though, probably because I can relate: there is nothing like holding your own dear grandchild. :>)

  6. Oh, grandma, you are in those precious years of lots of hugging and loving. Took our first granddaughter out on a date the other night - we had fun as I told her about her first months before they moved across the country! Enjoy and be blessed! They grow up far too fast!

  7. Oh, she's just so adorable, how many times am I allowed to say that "I'm proud she's my cousin!"? (before it starts getting really annoying)

  12. Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, to have that Christmas Ornament in years to come will be such a special thing each and every year on the tree as she grows. Then, even [if everything goes as planned and it survives the years ahead] she'll have it on HER tree. Wow....Gramma Mari, that is just one awesome gift.

And you are a BEAUTIFUL Grannie too. Love the last photo ---and the very first photo.

  14. Great idea for ornaments, I'm putting that in my head (hope it doesn't get lost there) for next year for my grandchildren - and maybe for a church project too! And it's obvious, I know, but what a beautiful baby!!

  19. Mari, you have the same look on your face that I get when I hold my grandbabies. It says, don't make me give them back! But of course, you're always ready to give them back when the time comes. That's the best part. Then your arms ache for the next time you get to hold them. Alaina is so beautiful. I had a GIANT stocking on my front door this year that she could've swum around in. But your ornament was an adorable idea. Through all the years it will bring a tear to Laura's eye. Happy New Year to you all!
