Autumns Smile

We've had an unusual Autumn here in Michigan. It seems to have lasted much longer than usual! It seems the weather has been just right to allow the leaves to stay on the trees longer and to make the colors change at a slower rate.
Here's a few more pictures of what it looks like around here.

I've really enjoyed all this beauty, but I'm afraid it's almost done. The temperature really dropped in the last 24 hours and they say the snow may be coming in a week or two.
I'll leave you with a quote I read this week that I thought summed it up well.

"Autumn, the years last, loveliest smile"
William Cullen Bryant

  2. Oh, I love that quote and he is one of my favorite poets.

I once visited his home in New England and was enthralled.

Your photos are just terrific, too!

It is easy to fall in love with fall. :)

  7. I lived in Pontiac one year when I was in 6th grade. Still have family in Michigan, but haven't been there is awhile. It seemed to me that it went straight from summer to winter, but your beautiful pictures prove me wrong. :)

MissKris at A Shelter from the Storm recently moved from Oregon to Michigan and loves it. You've proably seen her comments here and there, or you may already be familiar with her blog.

  8. We had a long autumn too because of the short summer. I imagine we will be in for colder weather too. Beautiful autumn pics.

  9. You take such beautiful pictures, Marie. I love seeing photos of autumn. We don't get as much of the reds and oranges here in Colorado. And we've already had a couple of snowstorms, so the trees are looking rather bedraggled.
