The trees are really starting to show their beautiful colors, but the flowers in the garden are fading. It's still pretty, in a subdued way.
The
coneflowers are nearly done.
The Rose of Sharon has a few flowers of each color left blooming. I like the big seed pods that are left.
This is one of many flowers on our Hydrangea tree. They start out white, become cream colored and then develop this old fashioned pink color. They will hang on into winter and look quite pretty hanging on the tree with snow over them.
The leaves on the
Cranesbill geranium are looking quite pretty!
There is one lone rose on the arbor.
And just a few morning glories remain.
Some of our decorative bushes are full of berries.
This is a
Colichum, also known as a Fall Crocus. They get leaves in the Spring that die back and nothing happens all summer. Then in the Fall, out pop these glorious flowers!
And last - the Autumn
Sedum. It makes such a pretty bank of color when planted in a clump.
I'm enjoying the color while I can, because I know that it won't be long till I see not much but white when I look out the window!
Mari's Little Corner is becoming my go-to spot for breathtaking beauty. Your pictures are bittersweet and lovely, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThe rose reminded me of this:
'Tis the last rose of summer
Left blooming alone
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone
No flower of her kindred
No rosebud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes
To give sigh for sigh.
I'll not leave thee, thou lone one!
To pine on the stem -
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go, sleep thou with them.
Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o'er the bed,
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.
So soon may I follow
When friendships decay
And from love's shining circle
The gems drop away
When true hearts lie withered
And fond ones are flown,
Oh! Who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?
Almost as pretty as spring flowers!!!
ReplyDeletePretty to me.. I have knock out roses and impatiens everywhere. I bought one pot of mums and my red geraniums in pots are still flowering..leaves just started turning down here..I sure hope we don't see much white this winter. I think I prefer brown. *smile
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Love the pics. You've captured them beautifully!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
You have a beautiful flower garden.
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures Mari.
ReplyDeleteA friend gave me some fall crocus bulbs a few years ago. It wasn't until this year that I figured out where all that greenery came from in the spring! I do love the flowers, they seem so incongruous in the fall.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the garden tour, Mari. And my allergies didn't even bother me. :0)
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking us on a tour of your beautiful yard!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about enjoying things while you can. Our leaves are beautiful right now. But every time a breeze blows, they come down in sheets. Already, the ground has a thick blanket of crunchy leaves. :)
Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! You have such a great photographer's eye!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colours! Here in the UK we don't tend to get that much snow (Famous lasts words, now we'll have inches of it!) but we too lose all the flowers, although I think pansies survive through the winter don't they? I'm not an expert.
ReplyDeleteHello friends,
ReplyDeleteFall flowers in season are a real treat for the nature lovers and gardeners, for they represent the most colorful seasons of them all. The festive and attractive colors of these flowers and falling foliage gives a refreshing joy. Thanks a lot..
