What a storm!

We had a huge storm today! When I went to work at 7 am, there were just a few clouds in the sky and it was light out. But at 8:30 am it looked like this:
It got wild; there was some hail, the rain came down in sheets and the wind was
gusting up to 85 mph!

Lots of people lost power, including us.
However, about 20 minutes from us there was much worse damage.

There was flooding.

Buildings were damaged.

And lots of trees came down...

This poor person lost their car. I heard that one person was killed when a tree fell on their garage, but I've not heard of any other injuries.
We were blessed to have no damage other than losing our power.

  1. You know, we were supposed to get bad weather through here, but then we just got some rain and the bad winds and stuff never made it here. So glad you are okay!

  3. The storms have been just awful this year. Glad you are OK. Sure hope those who have severe damage are insured. Good that you were already at work when all that happened and not driving there at the time. God was surely with you.

  6. No damage here, but neighboring cities were not as lucky. I was having lunch at Macy's when it went through so I didn't even know it was happening!

  8. Hi Mari,We've been having that same awful weather-they call it the monsoon, apparently it happens every five years or so but I'm tired of it raining so heavily. Love my summer weather more. Feel bad for all those who have has a loss due to the flooding, hail and wind.
    Hope it stops soon.

We had a storm like that go through on Sunday night. We had lots of tree damage but some towns around us had a little more damage.
We had another one last night and this morning I had a tree across my road.
It has been one nasty spring and summer. I am a little leery about what winter is going to be.
    Have a great day
Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

  13. Good grief! I'm so glad you're all right, Mari. My kids in Knoxville had a similar storm a few weeks ago, with much loss of property. So scary. We could sure do with a soaker rain but none's in sight. Stay safe!
