Cooking Thursday

The recipe I'm sharing today is one I don't make often, as it's used as a sauce for ham. My mom got this from her sister when I was young and it was always part of our holiday dinners.
It still is - we had it with our ham on Easter.

Raisin Amber Sauce

1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup water

Mix these ingredients and bring to boiling, stirring constantly. Then add:
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 cup applesauce
1 cup raisins

Cook slowly, stirring constantly until thickened.
Serve over ham.

  1. Hi sweet friend! I haven't been by lately...life has been crazy busy and there's no end in sight since I'll be gone for a long weekend and then my grandchildren will be here next week. Life is good though so I'm not complaining!

    Gosh, your sauce sounds so good. I'll definitely give this a try the next time I cook a ham.

  3. My mom makes that when she has Ham dinners and I love it. I have never made it has I have never asked for the recipe. My sons did not like raisins, but now I can make it for hubs and me. Thanks

  5. I didn't get to bake my Easter ham. It is still in the refrigerator. Maybe I will bake it tomorrow to celebrate the Royal wedding. This sauce would be good to try. Thanks you so much.
