My friend Kayren did a post last week with some of her favorite and treasured ornaments.
I thought I would share some of my favorites with you today.
I've noticed that many of them are hand made and I'm starting with some we've made fairly recently.

This cute little tree was made by Andy when he was 7. The front of it has all different stamps on it, but I love the writing on the back!
This is another one made by Andy, using a pine cone, a milk weed, a golf tee and a wooden ball. He made this one when he was in first grade.
My sister-in-law Jan made me two of these about 20 years ago. This one is Heather and we also have one of Laura. Jan was legally blind and cross stitched these, sitting by a machine that enlarged things enough that she could see them. The fact that she put this work into them makes them special, but she passed away 2 years ago so now they are also a nice reminder of her.
This ornament is clear, so is hard to read, but it says:
First Christmas Together
1981
It's from the year we were married.

This is our oldest ornament.
The first time I met Bob's sisters the family was staying at a cottage in the summer. His sister Karla was working on some ornaments that were going to be sold at a bazaar. I helped her make some and we laughed because we thought they were so ugly!
She got the last laugh when she bought one and gave it to me for Christmas. It's been hanging on our Christmas tree every year since!

ReplyDeleteWhat great memories ornaments bring back! Steve and I love looking at our tree and talking about the ornaments and memories. He has told the kids they cannot take their ornaments when they leave! Then he amended that and said O.K. one a year after you leave. He loves them too! BTW one of Bob's now hangs proudly on our tree as well!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a trip down memory lane! Beautiful ornaments with so much meaning. Loved it.

ReplyDeleteOur precious, handmade ones are in a box -- for now. I have a set of eggshell ornaments that my mom made a long, long time ago. She's surprised I still have them. JS's ornaments will come out as we get closer to Christmas.
...I love these warm ornament photos. I don't have a Christmas tree in my house, so I enjoy others...
ReplyDeleteI love them all! My MIL has an ornament personalized for us every year very similar to yours :)
ReplyDeleteThe most ornate store bought ornaments can't compare to the beauty of those given or made by those we love!
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful and just the sort of ornaments I love to see on a tree!

ReplyDeleteThose are all so special but I'm partial to the last one! The memory it provides is so great! I don't have any ornaments I've made myself, and none of mine go all the way back to before kids. But each one is special in its own way ... including the wood-carved-look angel wings I bought for fifty cents at Dollar General just today!
