Last year we had a chipmunk that used to come on our front porch from time to time, and would drive the cat crazy. ( We have a full glass door, that Oliver loves to sit by and watch outside)
We called that chipmunk Chippy. This year I think her children have arrived. We've seen three of them running around in the woods next to our house. However, there is one that spends most of his time on our porch. We see him there daily, and he will often spend an hour at a time near it.
We've named these three, Simon, Theodore and Alvin. Of course, the one that always visits is Alvin. He brings seeds onto the porch and eats them, he runs back and forth, will jump down and come back, all the Oliver's consternation!
One day Oliver was crouched way down, tail flicking back and forth as he watched, only to have Alvin come running against the glass door. Alvin may be a little too brave for his own good!
The other day I laid on the floor, to get a cat's eye view of the action:

Those little guys are so fun to watch. One year we had several running around and one would actually go into the garage and watch Sweetman while he worked on things. To funny I bet Oliver is fit to be tied~~~
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Oliver, I'll be home soon and then the chipmunks will no longer tease.
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteThis is too cute. Our hummingbirds often hover at eye level to our cats just to get a quick peek even though they know the cats can't get out.
We do let our older one out since she is too old to jump the fences and it's amazing how close they will actually get.
Please visit my hubby's blog today. He needs some prayer and encouragement and no one has stopped by.

Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Reminds me of the Christmas Song - A-L-V-I-N!! No doubt so much fun and very entertaining and probably something you should send to AFV to win!
ReplyDeleteI happen to be a little biased, but i much prefer chipmunks over squirrels. They're just so cute! It's cool they feel comfortable to bring their family and friends.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Great pics too.
ReplyDeleteHugs!

ReplyDeleteToo cute!! Love watching those critters. God gives us the gift of laughter with them too!
ReplyDeleteThose are great pics Mari! My dog has moments like these and my camera is never around to capture them!
ReplyDeleteThis was adorable Mari. And of course I loved your great pictures telling the story!!!!
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO...on the last caption!! Too funny. I loved, loved, LOVED these photos Mari. You did good!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I must say, catchy names for your chipmunk family...real catchy. :::snort:::
Those are the best pictures! The best entertainment is free, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures, especially the one with the cat just watching and waiting! My husband throws peanuts out for the blue jays so of course we are getting a lot of squirrel activity too. They are fun to watch.

Those little critters are so adorable to watch especially when there is not a gun near by. It doesn't take alot to entertain us does it. lol
ReplyDeletepoor oliver - i'm sure he's just waiting for his moment to pounce!
ReplyDeleteI love that second picture! Poor kitty! What a tease. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures, Mari!! You should enter some of them into a contest somewhere. Now's there's a novel idea, hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteOh my word! That is too funny Mari! Loved the cat's eye view! We have a female squirrel that loves to taunt my feline babies. She will get right up on the ledge of the picture window and stares in at my cats while she eats the cat food I leave out for the neighborhood strays (I participate in TNR). When they move, she just twitches her tail and continues to eat as if she has not a single care in the world.

That is so cute!! When we lived in Florida the squirrels use to do something similar to our dog.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwww! That is just precious! I love that last picture ... that chipmunk has personality and courage to spare! Or maybe he knows Oliver is powerless behind the door ... LOL
ReplyDeleteI like the lengths to which you'll go to "get the shot," Mari!
So cute, Mari! : ) I happen to LOVE chipmunks AND cats! : )
ReplyDeleteThis little chipmunk is so teeny. Do you think he knows he would be in big trouble if Oliver got out? It does seem like he is just taunting the cat.

ReplyDeleteToo funny! One of these days if Oliver sneaks out, Alvin is gonna be history!
ReplyDeleteThis is so very cute! Alvin looks dashing. Too bad Oliver couldn't get to Alvin. Good for chipmunk. Bad for cat. LOL!
