It's time for Wednesday's tip of the week! For a lot more tips, visit Kristen at We are THAT Family.
The cabinet you see here is an old bookcase. It was sitting in our basement, filled with assorted odds and ends. I cleaned it out and started using it as a place to keep extra grocery items. Our small group from church collects items every few months for a few families, and I like to stock up on things for myself, also when they go on sale. I've found that having a designated place to put these things seems to make me more likely to stock up. It has really worked for me!
What a great idea. I like to stock up ahead of time, but don't always have a good place to store it all. A bookshelf would work great.

I think this is a great idea. It keeps your stockpile from taking up your kitchen/pantry space.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to repurpose your old bookcase. It looks like it's working out nicely. Don't you love it when the unexpected works out for you!
ReplyDeleteWonderfully creative & useful as well. Great share, Mari!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Don't know where I'd put extra things at this point, but I'm working on decluttering the house, so maybe I'll find a spot like this!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great idea! I will think first before I get rid of a bookshelf the next time around.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove that idea!
ReplyDeleteYour solution looks a lot prettier than mine. I'm currently using a plastic shelf at the bottom of my linen closet - but hey! It works! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I've got an old armoire I could use. My pantry is overflowing, LOL! (Lucky me--love them bargains!)
ReplyDeleteI like your idea because it is not only pretty, but it is also a way to keep track of what you have already. That's one of my stockpiling problems--8 tubes of toothpaste and no shampoo is usually how it goes, LOL! Thanks for a great tip!
Great idea. Just have to find a place to put it now. I do have a pantry but I like the idea of keeping it seperate a little.
ReplyDeleteIt does give us a good feeling when we help those less fortunate than we, doesn't it. So many needs and so many people to help.
Blessings......
hurrah for stockpiles!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a big sturdy bookshelf as my pantry, as well! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI have one of these in the back of the coat closet for emergency overflow! It's great for the big bulky stuff that can take over the pantry, like gallon bottles of juice.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to have a perfect space to stock supplies. Neat and orderly and at one glance you can see what needs replenishing! Very practical!! And I always move the most recent purchase to the back so that stuff gets used before it gets outdated!
ReplyDeleteLove it! My friend has something like this that she calls her "pantroire" since it's like a pantry-armoire in one. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! It makes everything look so pretty! lol

that is such an awesome idea. I love it when furniture is re-used.
ReplyDeleteDesignating a spot to stock up I believe is part of being a steward. We can make our own pantry, like you, using a bookcase, closet, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using the bookshelf like that! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, and I like that your small group does that.
