Works for me Wednesday

I got our cable bill last week and was surprised at the amount when I opened it. It was about $30 more than usual. We also get our Internet through our cable company, so I scanned through it, trying to figure out what had raised the total. There were a few things that looked like one time charges, but I wanted to make sure so I called the company. After punching numerous buttons, I finally was able to speak to an actual human.
She informed me that we had been getting a special rate and it had expired. I told her that although we enjoyed some of the channels we got, we would have to make some changes because that bill was too high. After doing some calculations, she said she could add more channels for that price, which I turned down. She then said she could let me have everything we have now, for $40 less than the amount we we billed for.
Yay! I agreed to this, and she then said that the extra on this bill would be deducted from next months bill. Bonus!
So - I am now paying $10 less a month for the same thing I was getting earlier. It pays to call and see if you can get a better deal!

  1. That's great. We have DirecTV and when we travel from MO to TX and vice verse we sometimes get a deal because of all the hassle that comes with it. I like deals.

  5. I did that this month with our phone service and got a better package that cost less per month.

They sure don't call you to tell you these things.

  7. There was a time when you did something like this for another bill. I remembered it and at one point our phone/tv/internet bill came and I called about the cost. They did the same thing for us. We got a better package for LESS money.

Thanks Mari, I owe all my extra money to you, LOL

  8. Good job, Mari. I love inspiring stories like that. It makes you wonder how much extra we pay when it's not necessary if only we'd pay closer attention.

  10. I did the same thing some time ago, and got the same result. I'm glad to get the reduction, but it makes me feel "taken" when I have to do the calling to get what they should be offering. It's buyer beware out there!

  11. It also pays just to call them up and tell them that you may have to cancel your subscription because of tight budgets...they drop the price again. =D

  13. I am SO glad you called. I was just thinking today that I was super guilty of no longer looking at bills since everything is automatically deducted. Now, thanks to you : ) tomorrow I am going to take the time to open everything up and make sure it is all legit : )Thank you!
