I've got another cleaning item I use faithfully, but this isn't one I buy. This is a recipe I got from my step mom, who keeps her house spic and span. I had asked her what she used for her windows and mirrors and she told me about this. This is so easy to mix up and is economical too! I use it for mirrors, windows, counter tops and even my painted baseboards. It's good stuff!
Cleaning Spray
2 ounces rubbing alcohol
2 ounces clear ammonia
12 ounces water
Pour each ingredient into a spray bottle and lightly shake to mix.
Sandra from Sister.Faith recommends Comet Bathroom Cleaner in the squirt bottle. I've never tried that one, but will have to pick some up. If you have a favorite, let me know and I'll share it next week.

Great tip Mari, I'm definitely going to try this one.
ReplyDeleteI've always used amonia water and then wipe them dry with newspaper. Works great for me.
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteMy mom has been using this for ages and I tell you her home looks amazing too! She truly loves saving money.

I'm going to give this a try! Great tip. I know I can always count on you for great inspiration, recipes, tips, words of wisdom. Your blog is a pleasure to read!
ReplyDeleteI was just talking about homemade cleaning things with a friend at church Sunday. I'll have to tell her about this one. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteMy late MIL did it the very same way.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday to you Mari
Good Morning Mari Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled to see a great recipe for window cleaner and mirrors too. Store bought products are becoming outrageous in price. I am going to mix some up this weekend and give it a try. I thank you for sharing.
Hope you are doing well. I think of you so often. Incase I haven't told you lately, you brighten my day immensely when you visit. Thank you sweet friend.
Have a gorgeous day. Country hugs and much love, Sherry
sounds like a great all purpose cleaner to keep around the house.
ReplyDeleteYou know Mari, I have heard of this before, and I tell myself to try it ...and then I forget!
ReplyDeleteI'm really going to do it this time!! (If I remember) :)
Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait to try this on my mirrors! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know what I'v been using on my windows (indoor and outdoor) .. plain water and microfiber cloths! Even my mother-in-law (this is a HUGE deal) does this now. You cannot tell the windows are closed. SOOOO crystal clear and no chemicals at all. I've had friends comment on my bathroom mirrors about how spotless and smudge free they are! lol

I love things I only need one bottle of since the kids to alot of the bathroom cleaning. This sounds nice and easy and they can both have a bottle. Thanks Mari!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mari! I am going to try this one.
ReplyDeleteI have been using a mixture of ammonia and alcohol for ages but I don't add the water. Love it and always have a spray bottle handy. I use it on just about everything.

I just got a new glass cleaner called invisible glass or something like that and I love it. I seldom use it, but I do like it when I do

I really like this recipe you gave out a few months ago.
ReplyDeleteI also tried The Works and it took some rust out of the bottom of my sink.
The invisible glass that was mentioned works very well too but costs a lot more than using the alcohol and ammonia.
