One of the things we did while in Colorado was to visit an abandoned gold mine and a few ghost towns. I really enjoyed this. It's interesting to look at a place and think of how many people lived and worked there, only to be abandoned and left to fall apart.
It reminds me that the things we often think are so important are not lasting and in the end really don't matter. It's the things that last throughout eternity that I need to focus on!

We stopped at a scenic turnout to eat a picnic lunch. We were still in the vehicle when I saw this fox come out of the bushes. We through some crackers out to him which he ate, before continuing on his way. It appears he has gotten some treats in this area before!
That's so cool that you got to feed a fox! and yes seeing old structures like these can really redirect one's focus. {{that's how I felt when we geocached the Gold Rush Trail}}
ReplyDeleteThat was an excellent analogy you made at the beginning of the post. The pictures were beautiful, as were all the pictures from your trip.
ReplyDeleteOh, so here is your talky blog. I am following your photo blog. I forget some people have more than one blog. Perhaps I should follow you here.
ReplyDeleteLoved your comment on your radio cord going up the wall in that classy gotta get JQ style. :)
Heidi, your MI neighbor
That is such a good point Mari. These things do not last forever. It is amazing how they served such an important role for a season, and then that fades. I love the refreshing look of the setting itself.
ReplyDeleteI love the fox (even though he looks kinda shady, lol!)!! Your pictures are so amazing!
ReplyDeletethat one picture reminds me of a scene in the mask of zorro...or some antonio banderas movie. it was set in a gold mining town.
ReplyDeleteAren't they all just too super for words? Love your photos. I can remember one old rickety gold mine and mine shaft we went down...I think it was near Cripple Creek, Colorado...the Kathleen something or other...and the part I remember was we got to pick gold out of a vein...only allowed to take a smidgen of it with us. Bummer. And then, the OUTHOUSE there at the mine....ooooooooo, doggie that was spooky. You go in and 'sit' on the hole...but don't look down!!!! It went clear down the side to the mountain!! Lordy.
ReplyDeleteLoved your share.

ReplyDeleteYou can't imagine what those lines did to me! You are so right! I wish African leaders can see life from this perspective. I wish...
Mari,
ReplyDeletePlease stop by my blog for a special blessing.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
more amazing photos! how cool is that fox? wow.
ReplyDeleteYou sure got to do and see a lot of wonderful things. What wisdom to look at something like a long forgotten town and see how that relates to life. All that matters in the end is our soul and eternity.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
Foxes that come out in the daytime scare me. :D
ReplyDeleteYou are so right... we have to keep the main thing the Main Thing... and to focus on HIM and not the temporary trappings of this world. Thanks, Mari!
wow !! very cool town !! and amazing shots !!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures!!!! I'm finally catching up with more of your trip. What a mighty Creator we serve!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the pictures of the abandoned buildings make me feel sad, yet curious. They remind me of the Little House in the Prairie books.
How cool to see the fox! We went to a ghost town in California a few years ago and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThose old ghost towns are so fun to visit. You can just imagine how it must have been years ago.. Neat fox too!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I can never look at a red fox without remembering the coat I had in 7th-8th grade with the real fox fur collar. It took me 7 months of babysitting to pay for that coat. LOL But I loved it. Was too sad when I outgrew it.
ReplyDeleteaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing photography!
ReplyDeleteI am ready to book my trip! I have been in the area, but long ago...I was 6. I do have vivid memories that I would love to share this experience with my children. I am happy to relive it here. Thanks for sharing!
Thats it! I am telling Chuck that we are going on vacation to Colorado next summer!
