Here's what's happening...

I've received several e-mails asking about how Andy is doing, so thought it was time for an update.
For those of you who don't know, Andy is our son and he is in the army. He returned to the States in March after spending a year in Korea.
He is currently in Colorado and is really enjoying his surroundings. He continues to work on the Apache helicopter. His battalion is scheduled to be deployed to Iraq in February.
Andy is excited about eye surgery he will be having on August 5. After wearing glasses since he was young, he'll be able to see without them.
We are excited about a trip we are planning. We are going to visit him in Colorado! He will have a week off and we plan to rent a cabin in the mountains and visit some of the beautiful Colorado landmarks. It sounds like a win, win situation! Vacation, time with my husband and son, enjoying the beautiful world God created!

  3. Mari,

Congratulations on all the great news and happenings coming your way. I know my hubby just loves his new "eyes" after getting his laser surgery and departing from his eye glasses. I am too afraid for that!

Enjoy all the time with your son and we will definitely keep Andy in our prayers!

  9. I'd be having a ticker bar for that too! The most beautiful part of our country - in a cabin - with your family. Doesn't get much better than that.

Have a wonderful trip. Praying everything goes smoothly for Andy's surgery.

  10. My pastor and his family are going to Colorado in August, too! I told them I may hop in their suitcases to get out of this La. heat, haha!

Wow, eye surgery?!! That'll be sooo nice to just wake up and be able to see. I'm blind as a bat, and my friend and I have talked about eye surgery options for years...probably will never happen, haha, but it's a fun convo topic...

  11. I absolutle LOVE my eye surgery. It was THE freakiest thing I have ever done- but worth it.
It been 8 years since my surgery and a few months ago I got a pair of glasses with just 1 degree of prescription for driving at night. (to clarify road signs) But I dont mind that at all!

  16. This post is really something to me, I was just thinking about Andy last night, isn't that strange? I've never met the young man, yet I felt as though I should say a short prayer for him..and I did. Isn't God awesome in the way he uses strangers to pray for one another, we're nothing of ourselves, but through Him we are mighty!
What a great trip you will have, I can't wait to see the pictures!!

  21. Have fun visiting Andy and I hope his eye surgery goes fantastic! My parents would get just as excited as us when we got orders because that meant they would visit where ever we were!

  22. I hope his Lasik surgery goes well. Anthony found out on Friday that his corneas are too thin and he needs a special kind of surgery that would require much more recovery time. He decided to wait until he can plan for all the inconvenience of not driving, etc.
