I love this time of year! It seems that almost daily new things are blooming. It's not too hot yet, so nothing is drying up or wilted. I thought I would take you on a little walk around our yard so you could see what is blooming right now.
.
Lets start here by the front walk. This is a dwarf lilac. It blooms a little later that the regular lilac, but has the same color and wonderful smell as its larger relative. This year it is really full of blooms.
.
As we walk around to the side yard, we see the bench Bob built a few years ago. There is always something blooming in this area and right now it is the Siberian iris. I love their bright purple splashes of color.

And here is a regular version. It has such a bright hue!
.
.
As we walk toward the back I have to show you this unusual bush. This is a flower from our Viburnum bush. The edges open up large and the center opens up later, but those flowers are very tiny.
.
.
In our back yard we have this Cottoneaster. These look like they are filled with flower blossoms, but when you get close you can see that these are actually little berries.
.
.
This is a Weigela bush. We have two of these, the other one has white and pink flowers.
.
.
Yes - this is another Siberian iris. We have a bunch planted in the back. They add such nice color and even when the flowers are gone, their spikey green leaves add interest.
.
.
Last, but not least are the peonies. We have several of them too and they will be opening soon. They are one of my favorite flowers, but they don't last long once they open.
I hope you enjoyed your tour and aren't sick of flower pictures!

I'm never sick of flower pictures. It's such a lovely time of year! Thanks for the pretty tour:)
ReplyDeleteMari, your flowers are beautiful! I always love to see what other people have blooming. It's fun, too, because I get to "revisit" some of my favorites in your yard that have already stopped blooming here! You must be several weeks behind us. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful gardens you have, Bob does a great job in the yard.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos,I love this time of year as well all the bright colors, especially after the drab of winter.
ReplyDeleteNever too many flower pictures! We just got our landscape drawing today because we have to go ahead with our front yard, and the one I remember that you have is the dwarf lilac. There will be some of those in the front. I'm going to get my drawing tomorrow morning and compare and see if there is anything else the same.

And the Viburnum bush!----I just planted one a few weeks ago. Whoopee. Now I see what the blossoms look like. :o)

I wanted to say that I am never sick of flower pictures but someone already said that. I sure do like the Siberian iris. I see them around as we drive by neighborhoods and I wish I had some. They really are eye candy to me. You have a lovely yard and that bench that Bob made is so nice. I love the style.
ReplyDeleteMy peonie plant has bloomed and is fading. I just love it and feel bad when the vibrant color starts to fade.
ReplyDeleteYou yard is amazing! I have a few plants, but don't even really know what they are. A green thumb I am NOT.
you have a gorgeous garden! :) my tiger lilies are blooming right now and they look gorgeous - well they would if they weren't surrounded by an obnoxious ivy plant.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! I loved the tour! You are a great tour guide!
ReplyDeleteI really love the dwarf lilac...I have a massive beast of a lilac in my backyard...really thinking hard that I'm going to rip it out.
What beautiful flowers! I recently planted a vegetable garden for the first time ever. It is amazing to watch things grow from little seeds. I find that I really enjoy the garden even though it is a lot of work.

My Siberian Iris are in bloom now too. I enjoy them so much. And you have peonies! I had some many years ago but they stayed in the yard when we sold the house and I never have had them again. Your's encourage me to go get some. :) Thanks for letting me walk around your yard for a bit. I'll be back.

You have a very beautiful yard! Someone gave us two dwarf lilacs that we planted right in front of the house but those puppies kept growing and growing and growing...when we left they were about 7 feet tall. LOL But their scent is so much sweeter than regular lilacs. LOVE 'em! Haven't seen any lilacs here at all.
