I was talking to my neighbor the other night and she said, "You have to come in so I can show you something".
Surprise - look what she had to show me. She is a Physical therapist and when she was at her office, 2 girls from the adjoining office told her to come see something. It was this baby skunk, just stumbling around outside. There had been 2 other skunks removed from the property the day before, and possibly one of them was the Mother. This baby could hardly get around on it's own yet.
My neighbor is a "rescuer" so she took it home and found someone who takes care of wildlife and then releases them. The baby skunk was spending one night with them before moving on to the wildlife release place.
I must admit, that it is quite cute. When she assured me it was too young to spray, I even held it!

I've heard that they make great pets.
ReplyDeleteI am not a lover of all things animal, but this little one really is quite cute.
ReplyDeleteyou are too brave!!!
ReplyDeleteOK - that is cool!!! And pretty dang cute!
ReplyDeleteI am not a big skunk person but he is adorable!
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable. What an experience.
When I took Mom & Brandon up north last year, Brandon got to hold an adult skunk at the wildlife center. It had been descented. He really enjoyed that and said, "Not many people get to hold a real live skunk." LOL Now I know two people who have done so.
Have a great week.
Blessings,
Mary
Once I'd known he was safe to hold (not big/old enough to spray) I'd have held him too. You know, just to say I'd done it. Plus, he is a cute little thing, kind of like a cat. Glad you shared that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun experience to be so up close to something like this! I envy this experience!
ReplyDeleteMari, THAT. IS. ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteVery cute, but I'm not sure I'd want to hold it.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Kat
No "stinkin" way! Tee Hee! He is cute though!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwww, is right!!!! This photo, Mari, melts my innards. So adorable.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Who would think that you could hold a skunk and not worry about being sprayed?
ReplyDeleteAny "baby" is cute, but when they grow up...us included...watch out!
ReplyDeleteOk, when I first saw the picture I wondered who in their right mind would hold a skunk! But, if it's too young to spray...it is pretty cute!
ReplyDeleteHe is cute- glad he's not old enough to spray!!
ReplyDeleteawwwww ... apparently they can be domesticated like cats ... i remember coming home from work (years ago) and find our 2 cats, playing with a skunk ... no one got sprayed!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww is right. But then, most animals are cute as babies. Our family has a history of skunk stories so cute as it is, I'd give it a wide berth :-)
ReplyDeletethat has got to be one of the most adorable little things i have EVER seen! oh i love him!
ReplyDelete~Kay
Just not so sure about that little fella. . . .
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteThis was one of those rare once in a blue moon opportunities! I am so glad you took a photo and posted about it. It definitely put a smile on my face.
Cathy
Now that's just all kinds of cute! I would love to have held it! You have all the fun, Mari.
ReplyDeleteIt is so dang cute!!! I heard she found another on the next day. Nice lady to rescue the little creature...
ReplyDeletethat skunk is adorable ! i'd be tempted to give it a little cuddle myself !!
ReplyDeleteI want one! Except I don't think my cat would appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool (not that he lost his mommy- but that you got to hold him)
ReplyDeleteI've heard that you can have their sprayer removed and they make great pets- similar to cats.
Suzie would LOVE that
Oh,such a cutie! My kids were amazed that a baby skunk would look like that. Well, my kids also read the comments and want a skunk for a pet....oh boy!
ReplyDeleteWow - he is so cute!!!! Maybe that could be your new pet.... :) Just like a cat those people said...
ReplyDeletePoor skunk to lose its mom... my heart breaks to hear even of baby animals losing their mothers!
ReplyDeleteHope it survives!
