Thursday afternoon, after a long day at work, I was just heading home. Then I got the call. You know - the one every parent dreads. "Mom, we were in an accident". "We're all right, but can you come pick us up?"
Heather had been out with her friend Melissa and on their way home, they were hit in an intersection by someone who ran the stop sign. The girl who hit them was on her way to her own high school graduation.

.
The green car is Melissa's. When I arrived and saw the damage, I realized how blessed we were that the girls were all right. The driver of the other car wasn't hurt either.

Melissa's car was damaged on all sides, and I'm sure will be totaled. This is the back rear tire.
Both girls had some cuts from the glass, along with bumps and bruises. Heather had to pick glass out of her clothing when she took a shower tonight. Melissa got the worst of it, as she took the impact on the side.
As Melissa's Dad said - cars can be replaced, the girls could not be. We are so thankful for God's protection today.

We have an amazing God!! I realized when I got out how much worse it could have been!
ReplyDeletePraise God that the girls weren't hurt. This could have been a disaster. I believe angels were watching over all of them and am glad they were keeping warm and smiling.
ReplyDeleteI remember when my daughter was in an accident with our pickup. The elderly lady was hurt really bad and we kept in touch with her husband to be sure she was getting along okay. Michelle thought I'd be furious because the truck was totalled, but vehicles can be replaced...people cannot.
Glad all is well.
Blessings,
Mary
Wow!! Those cars look really bad. So glad the girls are okay.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Lisa had her first accident after school one day. My friend came upon the accident and called me. The first thing she said was, "Your daughter is alright." Then she told me that she had been in an accident. Later I realized what great psychology she had used by putting those two sentences in that order!
Praise God for His protection! That is a very scary place for the car to be hit. I'm so thankful that it wasn't worse than it was.
ReplyDeleteWhat an uplifting story. I love how God keeps His hands of protection on us!
ReplyDeleteThank you God for protecting them!!!! I can't believe Melissa's door! All I can say is Thank you God!
ReplyDeleteThat's what we worry about everytime the kids drive away.....but God is in control and thank God he is! So glad they are ok and the other driver too. Patty
ReplyDeleteThank God that the girls were all right. How scary.
ReplyDeleteFrom the look of those cars, God was indeed watching over everyone.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, oh my gosh!!!! This is a mother's nightmare. To be sure.
ReplyDeleteA happy ending that the girls were unharmed, but oh....let me tell you, now the insurance will go up even more. But, again...the girls are okay. That is what counts.
How horrific.
That really is the worst of all phone calls to get. I'm so glad everyone is ok. The same thing happened to my daughter, a tow truck ran a stop sign and totalled her car too. She was fine, but couldn't get over the fact that she just paid it off and now it's trash!! Turns out our insurance gave her a really good, more then fair pay off. God is good in all types of "bad" situations.
ReplyDeleteOh that is so scary! That's one phone call I never want to receive. You certainly know that God's in control because by the looks of it - it could have been so much worse.
ReplyDeleteLike Heather said, it could have been so much worse. I am so glad that the three girls were not seriously hurt.
ReplyDeleteglad that it looks scarier than it was.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank God!
ReplyDeleteAlso, than you for stopping by :)
I am so glad they are alright. That phone call is a dreaded one for sure, I had it a couple of months back, thankfully all that was hurt in my son's accident was the car (fixable) & his pride.
ReplyDeleteThank God!!!! I am so glad they are okay. Mari, I bet you need a hug too XO

Oh Mari!! My oldest just started driving a 2 months ago and that is my biggest fear. Praise God that all girls were ok!! I got the 2nd dreaded call last night myself..my husband was in an accident on the way home and I had to go pick him up. Your heart just stops for a minute when you get that call.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm so glad they were ok!
ReplyDeletei can imagine how horrible that was for them. but even moreso finding out about your baby going through it...ugg. SO glad to hear everyone is okay. it does seem like these little moments in life always make us stop and count our blessings!
ReplyDeleteWhew! That was close. I'm happy to hear that the girls are ok. Too bad about the car tho. At least they're safe.....Kae
ReplyDeleteThanking God with you for protection Heather and her friend. You know I have been in your shoes and it's frightening, but we can both rejoice that our children have been spared!
ReplyDeleteGive Heather a hug and tell her I'm so thankful she is okay.
Amen! Thank God they were OK.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Praise the Lord for his Protection!! So glad they are all ok. They will probably feel sore the next couple of days. . .Good thing moms a nurse huh? Hugs to all:)
ReplyDeleteGod is good . I am so glad Heather wasn't hurt badly . I lost my oldest daughter in an car wreck in 1968. I know she is with the Lord.I lost my dear husband 22 months ago. God has taken care of me but I miss him very much after 47 1/2 years.
ReplyDeleteI found you from Sandra's blog.

Praising God that both of them are ok! WOW - that back wheel. God was most definitely protecting them.
ReplyDeleteThank the Lord no one was hurt
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord that the girls are okay! Those phone calls are the worst. What a week you've had...hope you have a RESTFUL weekend!
ReplyDeleteYikes!!! those cars are a mess but the girls look pretty good after going through that!!! I say God's hand was surely on them!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I'm glad they were ALL alright. That's scary. God is ALWAYS good!
ReplyDeleteI am in tears just looking at the pictures! I can't believe they weren't hurt worse. Praise God for keeping them safe!
ReplyDeleteOh, Mari, I'm so sorry I haven't been around (been kind of busy; long story) and did not see this till now. I know exactly how you feel, as two weeks ago (May 14) I got the same call from Andrew.
ReplyDeleteA 61-y-o lady crossed the center line of a two-lane road and collided head-on with the heavy-duty work truck in which Andrew was the passenger. Andrew had to jump out of the passenger window b/c his door would not open. He ran to the lady and when he went to feel for her pulse, she was barely hanging on. She had passed away by the time the rescuers arrived a few minutes later.
Paramedics speculate the lady suffered a heart attack while driving. She was 1/4 mile from her driveway. Andrew and his buddy, who were enroute from one job to another (trimming trees), were banged up a little bit but nothing serious.
Luckily all were wearing seatbelts as I feel sure the boys would have been killed. Even fully restrained, their heads broke the truck's windshield. The lady's car was demolished and her corpse was trapped inside for over an hour. Andrew and John had to watch as they extricated her and placed the remains into a body bag.
VERY sobering and potentially life-changing! Life is fragile and short (the earthly part, at least!)
I am so glad the girls were unhurt and able to smile! God is indeed present in all our endeavors.
Oh wow Mari, I'm so glad that they are ok. When I saw the pictures I was a bit worried ... then I started reading !! I echo your thankfulness for God's protection !!!
ReplyDeletePraise God that he had his hand on them and that they are safe!
ReplyDeleteSo glad everyone is okay! Your hubby has the right attitude.
ReplyDeletePraise God for safety! Yes, cars can be replaced but not people we love and care about.
