This watch belonged to my maternal Grandma. I never knew her as she passed away when I was about 6 months old, in 1961. I remember my Mom having this watch repaired and made into a pendant when I was a kid, and seeing her wear it. When my Mom passed away 6 years ago I got it. It still works and keeps time pretty well when it's wound.
It's interesting to think of all the things that have changed in the world since my Grandma got that watch. It's wonderful to know that through all those years, God has been in control and He has not changed!
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1
Wonderful and truthful observation about our Lord! A beautiful time piece.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful heirloom. I adore old things, especially from my grandparents who are all passed. This must be very special to you Mari.
ReplyDeleteMari,

ReplyDeleteThat watch is beautiful and what a wonderful truth! Thanks Mari!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful memory! The watch is beautiful and I love your analogies with time and that God does not change... time just gets us closer to Him! Yay!!
ReplyDeleteI can still see that necklace around moms neck when she wore sweaters.
ReplyDeletei love family memories...for Mother's day I wore my Great grandmother's pearls.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure. I can just imagine the hands that have held it and lovingly passed it down to you. What a comfort to know that although things of this world are always spinning and changing, God and His love stays constant.
ReplyDeleteMy husband had an old timepiece similar to this one that he purchased. When my yougest was a toddler he showed her how the face opens. She then "helped" him and broke the hinge that hold the glass! That's the kind of memory we create around here!
I guess that is why he is GOD! He never change!

ReplyDeleteThank you for your prayers! We made it through the day. I thought about you yesterday during church and the nice things that you've said to us during our loss.
