This isn't the normal Slow Cooking Thursday Post, because I'm not sharing a recipe today. I've gotten several questions recently on what kind of crock pot do I use, or what size so I though I would show you my collection of crock pots.
As you can see, I really do like to use crock pots! I have 3 of them, in various sizes, of various ages and in different conditions but they all work and are used!
They are all Rival brand. I didn't specifically look for that brand but it has worked very well for me.
I use the really small one for things like dips, or BBQ. I can fit 2 pounds of BBQ in it. The next size up is a 4 quart. I use it for things like meatballs or green bean casserole. I also have a 5 quart which is the one I use most of the time. If I could only have one, that is the size I would choose. The biggest one I have is one I won from a giveaway on Sandra's blog. I use it for big roasts and big batches of soup or chili.
My oldest Crock pot was a wedding gift and is almost 28 years old. It's not beautiful and looks dated if I take it anywhere, but it has served me well all these years!

Wow, you have a lot of crock pots! I bet that older one doesn't have an insert that comes out. That was a great feature they added!
ReplyDeleteHey, it's not Thursday. Did you know that?
My original one I got when we got married was the same brownish one you have, but it was round, not oval. And it didn't have the insert that came out either. It bit the dust!
ReplyDeleteI was one of the question askers, so now I'll ask another one...when you give us your recipes, will you start telling us what size you are using? Pretty please?
Yes - I know it's not Thursday. This was supposed to go up on Wednesday night and it went up early for some reason.
ReplyDeleteAlso - my old crockpot does have a removable insert!
You are the crock pot queen!! Notice I didn't say crack pot queen.. HEE HEE
ReplyDeleteIf I ever need a crock pot, I'll know where to come! You have an unusual hobby.. . . collecting crock pots! That is a great hobby because you could serve a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteIn Target the other day, Alan and I were looking at three crock pots all in one unit. I would love to have that. It cost $99. They were out of them or I think Alan would have bought one for me. I was thinking that it would be useful when serving several kinds of soups to a group of people. Oh, well, it is a long time till Christmas.
I have four different sizes of crock pots. I use them almost every day. It is the only way for me to cook with our busy life.
ReplyDeleteCrock Pots haven't ever gone out of style. My mom used one when I was in Jr. High. (That's a long time ago) Now I have 2 of them and use them at least 2 times a week. It would be nice if you mention the size of pot you're using with each recipe..Please..Thanks, Kae
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteLove your collection of crockpots. How nice that you won the large one. I'm sure you have one that's perfect for anything you'd like to cook. I only have one and it is the same color as your tan/brown one. It serves me well.
Drop over when you have time. I'm having a book giveaway.
Blessings,
Mary
Do you find that the little one gets way too hot? Everytime I use mine I have things burn in it and I have of on the lowest setting. I am wondering of something is wrong with mine.
ReplyDeleteWonderful advice...I have almost the same collection! I have gotten rid of the older ones as I prefer the ones that come apart. I love my crock pots!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day Mari
Kathi :)
Thanks for posting this Mari! I have to go get another crock pot and that will help with the size. I only have my huge 6 quart and things seem to get way to done in it.
ReplyDeleteMy most used pot quite working. It's not a Rival- so I think I am going back to that brand. I had a Rival pot for over 10 years- and only got rid of it after our house fire.
ReplyDeleteI have a rival too and a hamiliton beach which I love.I'm impressed by your selection Mari.
ReplyDeleteI don't have your latest fancy schamancy one, but I do have the rest. I did get a new one with a locking lid for travel. It's wonderful! Is there such a thing as crock pot envy?
ReplyDeleteI have the same one on the left (the big white one) and I used to have a small green one similar to yours but I left it with my college-age daughter. I often used both in the making of a meal. Am a HUGE fan of the crock pot! The girls I worked with at the bank were always trying to trip me up with something that could NOT be made in the crock pot but I could always figure out a way to do it. LOL Wishing now I'd brought a 2nd one with us but my co-worker has said she'll loan me hers if I need two for anything.
ReplyDeleteWhat a staggering array of wonderful slow cookers! They are a marvel. Your old one looks just like the one I got for my wedding, too! I replaced it with a new one in 2001 when I used the old one to melt glue in to make stuff for my daughter's wedding ... LOL! It was a mess.
ReplyDeleteI don't have one of those oval-shaped computerized ones, but my daughter does and I love to use it when I go to her house! Someday I'll get one for myself.
LOL! That's funny! But very impressive. Where do you store them all? My kitchen has so little storage (and I have no basement) that I have to pick wisely what gets to stay.
ReplyDeleteI did pick up a little baby one recently to go with my big one, but I haven't used it yet.
I have 3 crockpots and I do use them all LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the one you got from my giveaway, that's my favorite one to use.
In answer to Raise them Up's question - I store them on a shelf in my big pantry. The little one fits inside my round 5 quart one.
ReplyDeleteYou've got me beat. I only have two...for now. LOL My newest one looks exactly like your white one, except mine is red. Love the color.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Kat
