It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

I didn't have to go to work today. Of course there was plenty of work to do at home, but it is so nice to be able to start the day in a leisurely way. One thing I did, that I haven't done in a while was wash sheets and hang them outside to dry. A few days ago, my friend Megan blogged about the fact that she isn't allowed to hang sheets outside to dry. There was an article in our paper today about the fact that many homeowner associations don't allow this as they think it makes a neighborhood look messy. When I read her blog, I knew it was time that I did that again, because there is nothing like crawling into a bed with crisp sheets that dried outside. It is much cooler here today and the wind was blowing so it was the perfect day. I also did some other fun things, like get the oil changed on the van, clean the tub and get groceries. I was able to enjoy some time reading, spend some time on the computer, and just now finished talking to Andy who tells me he is still waiting for his class assignment. He is hoping to get it tomorrow, but is not sure. In the meantime they are keeping them busy with any little tasks they can and of course are keeping them doing PT and formations. It was a great day; wonderful weather, things accomplished at home, time to relax and a call from my son!

  1. I love to see sheets billowing in the wind, so fresh and lovely. Fancy there being a ban on sheets - now hideous old frilly knickers - now maybe they should be banned from the neighbourhood. What do you think?

  2. How odd ... I don't even own a dryer ! They are not all that popular here, though they are becoming more so. BUT everything I wash I HANG !! I don't hang everything outside. I have two drying racks in my garage and I hang lots there !! But all my sheets and towels ALWAYS get hung one the line ! I'll tell you one thing ... sure saves on the electricity bill !!

  3. There's nothing like sleeping on some sheets that have been dried outside. I love it!

  6. I should get a line too. Although I'm not so sure if I hung things that everything would stay on the line... it might have a way of wandering off unless it was high enough!

  7. I agree- I absolutely love sheets hung out to dry- especially in the fall because I shouldn't do it in the spring because of allergies!

  8. I'm a bit jealous. I don't have a line anymore, but I used to hang my stuff out all the time. Your photo is great! Over where I live everything smells like onions after you take it in the house, hehe. Not so pleasant for sleeping.

So great you got to talk to your son. I don't know how often that gets to happen, but sometimes just hearing their voice is worth it's weight in gold.

  10. Love it! I am not sure if I can hang laundry outside or not - even though we are on 5 acres we are still part of an HOA! I will have to check and see!

    Sweet blessings precious Mari!

  13. To this day I am scared to take laundry off a clothesline so I have never asked Mark to put one up for me. Growing up there must have been a wasp nest near our clothes line and on more than one occasion I was stung getting the laundry and my mother brought a wasp in with the laundry once and I seen her get stung while folding it. So as much as I love the smell of fresh sheets I can't overcome my fear of a wasp hiding in it too hang my clothes outside. -confessions of a housewife. Smiles!

  15. I thought people did that cause they didn't have a dryer - hahahaha! As clumsy as I am they would be on the ground and washed again - I can't even transfer to the dryer without dropping junk!

YEAH - you got to talk to Andy!

  16. Sounds like a great day Mari! Isn't it sad that people think sheets on the line is messy? What is this world coming to; all the fun things of yester year are passe to people today. It makes me sad. Hey I tried your Zesty Swiss Steak yesterday. Bekah actually ate all her meat (you do not know how unusual that is). Steve loved it. Thanks

  18. I think I commented on Megan's post that day! Seeing your picture takes me back to childhood. I can close my eyes and smell those sheets right now! I can't do that here, but I wish I could, today. We have the perfect weather for it, too! FINALLY!
