Crazy Day!
What a day! My friend, Nancy who is my work partner, did this post on Friday about how crazy her day was. I'm sorry to say that things weren't any better today. It was one of those days that starts off busy, and things just keep adding on. One of my patients was dying, and therefore he and his family needed frequent attention. In the middle of the morning I had to send someone else to the hospital, someone else got sick and there were a few other residents who were having behavior problems. Of course, since it was a Saturday, none of the office staff or management was there, so the nurses have to answer the phone and take care of anything else that comes up. I did end up working a little late, but was able to get home and do what needed doing here! My patient passed away this afternoon and I am really glad that I was able to be there for him and his family. We really become close to our residents and there are usually tears shed by the staff as well as the family when they pass. It is a privilege to help make the patient comfortable and do what we can to keep the family comfortable too, while they wait. I have tomorrow off and am looking forward to some praise and worship time at church!
Yes, I think praise and worship is in order after running non stop all day. Glad you have tomorrow off and maybe by Monday things will have calmed down.. I will miss our friend we lost today.
ReplyDeleteOh my what a day you had, it must have been so tiring and draining. I pray that you get the refreshment and rest that you need!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a blessing to all those at the nursing home (and elsewhere!) It takes a very special person to do the job that you do and I think you're amazing for doing it! I'm sure you were a huge comfort to the patient and his family today. Sorry for your loss.

I can empathize with the family of the patient you lost. I can also say I know how important it is for the family to have staff available that cares. I've experienced both sides before - the indifference to our loss and the tears shed along with us. Believe me, the staff who hugged us and cried along with us will never be forgotten. Continue to shine His light in all you do! You're just where God needs you and you're doing great!
ReplyDeleteGod made special people when he made nurses. Hope today is a better day.
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteI will praying for you. It is such a privilege to be able to pray for others and really helps me to switch my focus off of myself. I pray that you will have a sweet time of praise and fellowship with the Lord.
I can only imagine what a wonderful blessing you would be to a family at this point in time. You have such a sweet spirit, Mari. I know God has placed you in this position for His purpose and His timing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were refreshed in His presence today. I am reading a wonderful devotional about praise. I hope to post about it soon. It's by Darlene Mc Carty. It's amazing what praise does for us.
i admire you & nancy ... to be there of comfort to those who are dieing - and to their families ... blessings on you guys!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I looked at that picture I thought "yep I've had one of those days"! The emotional and physical engery it requires is so draining. Hope you are able to be refreshed in the presence of the Lord today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day ! I'm sad for you that one of your patients died. I can only imagine how attached you would get with the sort of work you do ! (and the sort of people loving person I think you are !!) I hope you were able to rest and relax and enjoy your time at church !
