Strawberry season is here (and almost gone, I'm afraid). I love strawberries. I love them fresh, I love them mashed, I love them on shortcake. That brings me to what works for me. I think this is something my Mom did, so maybe a lot of people do this, but when I am ready to prepare strawberries for shortcake, I hull and wash them. I then use a pastry blender to slice them. It cuts through them easily and the berries don't seem to get stuck on it like they do when I use a masher. Try it and enjoy your shortcake while you can! ReplyDeleteI also love strawberries! We eat them lot in the summer and rather much even in winter. Frozen strawberries which haven't melted yet almost at all is a nice treat. It's also healthy while I don't use sugar at all in freezing them.
I also hate bugs! We have some small ones in our kitchen - AND I HATE THEM!!
By the way you have a Finnish name so do you have some contacts to Finland?
