Fungus often has a bad reputation, we certainly don't like mold or fungal infections. But I love seeing fungus growing in nature. Mushrooms growing after a rain, or fungus growing on trees in the woods have their own beauty.
We recently stopped at Bob's sisters home and were walking outside when we came across this old tree trunk with fungus growing on it. I thought it was so beautiful! So, I'm sharing it with you. What's your feeling on fungus?
You have to admit - it really is beautiful!

I have to say fungus scares me - but I have to say these are interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe share 45-55% DNA with fungus so I find that fascinating! Plus they're unique and are photogenic
ReplyDeleteDear Mari, lovely photos!!! I love the patterns in these!
ReplyDeleteFascinating but they make me nervous. I do not know why, hahaa 🤔 xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt is like nature's art. And mushrooms have tiny roots that go way underground and connect to trees. What we see as a mushroom is only the top bloom.
ReplyDeleteNature has a way of turning even fungus into art.
ReplyDeleteThat old tree trunk looks amazing with its patterns and textures! 🍄
Happy Tuesday, Mari!
After watching The Last of us I was very weary of fungus indeed, however it can be quite beautiful!
ReplyDeleteStunning.
ReplyDeleteFungus is fascinating and interesting to look at. Outside fungus is fine, if it's indoors I would worry.
ReplyDeleteIn that setting it truly is gorgeous. You did a wonderful job of capturing its beauty, Mari.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos you took of this remarkable fungus, Mari! I've always found this plant life fascinating as well. All creation, no matter how lowly, serves a purpose. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteFungus to me has its own true beauty and also its own place...just like moss does. Love the pics. Janice
ReplyDeleteI just watched a documentary that had a segment on fungus/mushrooms and found it very interesting. I didn't know the roots actually grow into the trunk of the tree. You got a few great pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Mari!! I think most of us think of needing antibiotics when there is talk of fungus!! We don't want it on or in our bodies, but God created it for a reason and I'm sure there is a reason it is growing on trees like that, even if it is just to alert us to a problem with the tree. AI can probably tell us!
ReplyDeleteI don't know...they are pretty, I guess. I find those kind a little creepy. Maybe they need a different name other than fungus! Mushrooms don't bother me though!
ReplyDeleteI think all the mushroom botany can be so pretty too! I love how it was growing up the tree. I bet you can guess what it makes me think of.....fairy stairsteps! Lol
ReplyDeleteI think fungus is fascinating. This fungus looks like a fancy dress cascading down the tree trunk.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures. Its quite amazing how many varieties there are.

Hi Mary, those are great pictures! I like to eat mushrooms, a healthy fungus. I do not like the fungal infections I had in my ear!
ReplyDeleteFungus is quite interesting! They do have their place in our ecosystem.
ReplyDeleteIt can be quite beautiful and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think fungus is fascinating and can look quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your photographs.
All the best Jan
It is beautiful !
ReplyDeleteI love seeing fungus growing in the woods, you found some really beautiful fungus to photograph.
ReplyDeleteI'd sat that generally I'm not a fan, but it can be very pretty from a distance...or in your photos!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love all types of fungus. I have taken some from dead trees and use them in decor. Especially love the turkey tail feathers. Do you see Chicken of the Woods? A cousin of mine actually cooks it. Think I will check it out. Nature gives us such beautiful gifts!
ReplyDeleteThose are fascinating. I've never seen anything like it.
