A day in my life - April

I'm so happy that April is here!  Spring is in the air and I'm ready for sunshine, warm temps and flowers.
It was a busy day for me - here's how it went.

April Fools!  I started out the day by setting up this prank on Bob in his bathroom.  It was an easy, fun thing to do and it made him laugh.

Then, I headed downstairs and spent 45 minutes walking on the treadmill.

After walking, I got ready and had breakfast - a boiled egg.  I'm a creature of habit and this is my usual breakfast.  I did a little straightening up around the house and then headed out to get groceries.

It was a cool and cloudy day, the temp was 42 when I left the house.

Here's the grocery store.  It was a frustrating trip for me because for some reason, the produce dept was out of so many things.  I've never had this happen - no regular tomatoes, no raspberries, blueberries, hardly any peppers...  So I'll have to go back later.  I also ran into several people I know and did some talking to each of them.  That was nice, but it made the trip longer than usual.

I got home, unloaded the groceries and had some leftover chili for lunch.  Then I headed back out.

(This little guy is attached to the vent in my car, a cute little passenger when I'm driving)

I've mentioned before that I do a newsletter for my church. On this day a friend and I went out to interview a couple for an article in the next newsletter. I try to do a person or couple every month so we can get to know people better. We had a nice afternoon, looking at old photos and talking about how God has worked in their lives.  We were there for several hours and got home about 3:30.

When I got home it was a little less cloudy and I walked around the yard. We have some crocus ready to bloom!

I also found that Bob had put up this house number sign while I was gone. Our son Andy made it for us, and we were waiting for the weather to improve to install it.  He also brought our porch chairs and table out from the storage barn.  This is also a happy sight!

Shortly after 5, we drove to our church for supper. On Wednesday evenings we have supper together and then there are classes for kids and some for adults.

Here we are in the gym, enjoying good food and fellowship!

Bob had a men's group after supper.  I came home and did a little reading in this new study I'm doing that starts this coming week.  It talks about sins like pride, jealousy, sefishness... and should be a good one!

The evening ended with the Survivor show, which I'm a big fan of.

Another good day!

  2. Dear Mari, the wooden guy on your car vent is cute. On your grocery trip...you mentioned that the produce department was out of so many things. Here in Quebec, one of the largest grocers called Metro is having some sort of strike and this is affecting the produce section in a serious way.
Good food and fellowship is great.

  3. Hi Mari! What a cute April Fools prank you set up for Bob. I love it! Looks like your April 1 was a busy but good day. I used to do a monthly newsletter for our church as well (several years back). I enjoyed it. It was fun to interview new members so I could write a little get-to-know-you column in each issue. Your church dinners look like such a great opportunity to fellowship. I think that new study you are starting will be a good one. I hope that April is a great month for you and yours. See you again soon!

  4. I have never heard of this grocery store. I wonder if their sparse produce had anything to do with Easter. Your house number is so pretty, and the Crocus are a beautiful color. None here yet.

  7. Look at you. You even come up with the best April Fool's prank. I will need to do this to my Bob next year. I shop at Kroger. Their commercials always say "Fresh for everyone", but not at our store. The baked goods we no longer purchase, the meat we no longer purchase and now even the produce is getting old. Getting frustrated for sure. Glad you had a nice Easter. Janice

  8. That's a fantastic prank, Mari! I'll remember that for next year. I did enjoy the photos of your front porch and your recent church gathering, too. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  9. Mari, I loved reading about your day :) The prank was cute and I love the little guy in your car. I'm wondering if the produce was low because it was depleted for Easter dinners everywhere. Mondays always seem to be a restock day at Kroger. I hope you have a great week! It was nice visiting with you today :)

  11. I'm laughing at your prank... this is cute. What a full day you had doing all sorts of things...I had the produce shortage happen to me last week as well. Makes me wonder? Not sure what the deal is with grapefruits, but I haven't been able to find any good ones in a while. I love that Spring has arrived in your area Mari. Enjoy the blooms and rocking in those beautiful chairs on the porch.

  12. My Pastor is crazy about Survivor, too! He talked about it last week at Bible study! LOL I haven't watched it since the very first season. Perhaps I need to revisit it! Your front porch looks inviting and the new house numbers look great! I get aggravated when I go to the grocery for a few specifics and they don't have them. It doesn't happen often, and I sure shouldn't be aggravated. Perhaps I need to investigate your new small group study! xo

  13. Your first photo made me smile. What a cute idea!
That is frustrating to have so many things missing from the grocery shelves. I'm not a fan of going to more than one grocery store in the same day.
Your day sounds very busy and interesting.
What a welcome sight those crocus must be.

  15. What a enjoyable post. I'm a Survivor Super Fan as well and like to revisit all the season every few years. I won't watch 50 until I get through where we're at now at season 38. I'm getting excited for 50.

I remember during the covid and toilet paper was a hot commodity, I saw the funniest photos on Facebook, with TP. Very funny April Fools.

It is getting to the point where I go to the butcher for meat, and the little produce stand for quality. You can't go wrong with local. The rest of the groceries, like the supporting cast I buy at my grocery store.

I'm glad you're seeing the pops of spring color. I bet that is like nourishment to your soul after a long snowy winter.

  16. Love your April Fools prank ... it really made me giggle. Oh and the little guy on your vent looks like your Hubby. I like that he's there with you when you are out and about.
The Small Group study looks like a winner.
What a busy day you had and it's so frustrating when things I need aren't available. I may have to start going to the local farmers market to get the really good veggies, especially tomatoes.
Have a good rest of your week.

  17. The toilet seat is so cute.
Another busy day for you. Wednesday evening at my church is prayer meeting. We have a short message and then pray.

  19. Love the joke you did on Bob. Do you boil the egg fresh every day? We don't have that grocery store down here - can't figure out why is was out of produce. I think your house and the number look awesome. So does your church fellowship!
