Easter eggs and Peeps

On Saturday, all 3 of our granddaughters came over for a day of fun. 

We started the day coloring Easter Eggs.


We mixed baking soda with water and food coloring.






Then we used q-tips to paint designs on hard boiled eggs.





The designs varied - stripes, dots, flowers and a mix of colors.







Hands needed washing after this step!







Next, we poured white vinegar over each egg.  It was fun to watch the colored baking soda fizz and bubble.







After the eggs dried, we put them in cartons with some fake grass. The girls were happy with their creations!





I have to add in this picture of Cassie to show you how cute she looks with her missing bottom teeth.  She was in her glory on this day - her best thing to do is spend time with her cousins and she was so excited!







Our next activity was making Rice Krispie Peeps. I made Rice Krispie bars and spread them out thin. I found Peep cookie cutters and cut them out. Then the girls added eyes and noses to some, and to others, they added a marshmallow tail.

We bagged them up individually so they could each take some home.






We had to stop at Chik-fil-A for a late lunch before going home. Everyone had a fun day, including Grandma.  Grandpa missed the fun this day because he was busy working on a project that I'll tell you about later.

    The eggs and the Girls are just beautiful.. What a fun way to make special eggs. If I had any food colors I would try one to see how it works. I have never seen this before. Wow has the world changed and I did not even know it

    Oh, I love all these wonderful activities you do with your granddaughters! They are certainly blessed to have you so actively in their lives! Those are some fun projects, and I can see they had a great time. Cassie is so cute with her little toothless smile! Adorable girls! What a joy!! Happy Easter to all of you.

    Those Peeps are too cute, but the girls are too. You are a nice grandma, a fun one! Those will be the best memories for them! I can't wait to find out about the project!

    oh Mari ...such fun pictures and memories right here in this post. It's fun to see all of the projects you come up with for the girls to enjoy. Those rice crispy bunnies are so cute...how many did they eat before getting them all bagged? I say that because I know that my grands would have eaten their fare share while making them. You are so talented and I love how you share this talent with your girls.

    Oh my goodness those eggs and peeps looked so dang cute! I miss those days. :-( at least I can re-live them through your blog. :-) Soon Conner will be joining in the group activities. Hope Cassie got lots of money from the tooth fairy. I did hear the average tooth nowadays is $5.00 from the tooth fairy. Much more than my grands received. LOL Janice

    Yay for Girl Day! It looked like so much fun. :) They are all such precious Angels and Cassie is getting SO big already. I think you need to make a book with all the amazing and wonderful craft and food ideas you've found the years. I'll be first in line to purchase for my long hoped for grandkids one day. Lol xo

    My friend, you are the absolute best! What wonderful ideas! I never thought of coloring eggs that way! And the aluminum trays??? Genius! Also, the peep rice crispy treats!! I love them! Saving these ideas for someday!!!!

    You are the best Grandma, Mari! Your projects are always so fun and the girls love doing them with you. So cute!! I just love how close the cousins are!! My two older cousins, Lana and Vicki, were who I Iooked up to at that age. Brings back great memories and those three girls will have hearts full of memories forever! xo

    Your rice Krispy treats look yummy! I don't enjoy actual peeps but I bet these are delicious! Your granddaughters are adorable! I bet they did love chic-fil-a! That's certainly my favorite restaurant! I'm so glad you had a nice day with them!!! So so so nice to visit your blog again! I took quite a long blog break this time, but its nice to be back!
