The good, the bad and thankfully, no ugly!

Along with the funny weather last week, we also had a few other things going on.

This was the not so fun part.  I was having heart palpitations.  I had them years ago and got checked out and put on medication. But suddenly they were back and not getting better. So, Bob took me to urgent care. They did an EKG and said it looked like there was damage to the heart in the past. They sent us on to the ER. The EKG there was better quality and ruled out heart damage. However, some labs said there was a possible pulmonary embolus so I had to have a chest x-ray and a CT scan. Thankfully, those were also clear.  Things of concern were ruled out, and the thought is that my body got used to the med and I need to try something new. I now have a new medication and we're praying it is effective soon!  So, this was both bad and then good!

Then came more good.  I got a message from our son Andy in KY saying his wife Nikki had the weekend off and they wanted to drive up for a short visit.  Of course, we would love to see them!

Saturday evening, we had everyone over for pizza.  What a joy!  It's not often I get all my kids together at the same time.

The grandkids were having fun playing together.

And look what Andy made for us!  A beautiful address plaque to put on the front of the house.  He made one for each of his sisters too.

Here's Andy and Nikki with the sign.

The kids were playing and Alaina yelled "Grandma, get this picture!" Connor had come to sit with them, and she knew I would want one with all 4 of them.

Then I told my kids I needed one of the 3 of them.  Andy is a goof, and this is what I got.  :)

But here's a better one; Heather, Andrew and Laura.

We had such a fun night together.  Andy and Nikki left for Kentucky on Sunday morning, so it was a whirlwind trip, but a wonderful time!

  1. You have a beautiful family there girl. Everyone looks like they are having fun and getting along so well. Goofing off. I am so glad they came for a visit.
Hope your medicine works and your heart starts beating correctly. You are coming to Terri's soon aren't you?

  2. When I saw you in the hospital bed, my heart sank. But thanking God that it was nothing serious. I have had palpitations for many years. They can be frightening and feel like my heart is flipping over. Mine are called Extra Beats and are not dangerous. The address sign is gorgeous! And I love that it is large and easy to read. the pic of the kids is so good. This is the first time I remember seeing Connor laughing.

  3. Oh, my friend....I am so glad you are okay. I am praying for your to have quick recovery and the medication takes care of this quickly. I have dealt with heart issues and it is scary! I am sooooo thankful for you to have gotten to have all your kids and grandkids over for pizza and fellowship. Love the pictures. Take care friend. Hugs from Mississippi.

  4. Dear Mari, I think it is wonderful that they were proactive and did tests to ensure you were alright. I am so glad to hear that the tests came out well.
Your photos are beautiful and heartwarming. You look radiant, dear friend!

  5. Hi Mari! That is so great that you had your whole family together! What a blessing! I love the address plaques. Looks like your son is talented like his dad! I am so sorry to hear that you have been having some health issues. I hope you can get your meds adjusted and feel much better soon! I have had something similar to what you describe, and it continues to this day. I have been to doctors, had many tests, been put on meds, taken off of meds and no one seems to know what is going on. I have also had EKGs that show heart damage and then the next EKG shows no damage. It can be frustrating. The latest verdict from my doctor is that my heart issues are probably anxiety. I hope you can get to the bottom of yours and continue in good health for many years. Great pictures in this post. God bless!

  8. Oh no Mari! So sorry to hear that you had a bout of heart palpitations, those are definitely worrisome! Praying for you! And that this medication makes a difference! What a blessing for all of your family to come together, so very special, and the beautiful sign that Andy made is amazing! Love the picture of all of you enjoying being together! 9. At first, I was frightened by what had happened when I saw the photograph in the hospital. You look beautiful there too and I really hope that you could be healthy!
Your family and home are beautiful, as is the number sign. You have big numbers there, the streets are obviously long. In Finland, house numbers are only in double digits.
My adult son is also a joker in the pictures. :)
Heavenly Father's blessings to you and your family!

  13. I hope they get everything figured out soon and that you're feeling better. It's always so scary.
What a great surprise having all of your family together. I know that made your heart feel good.
I love the signs that he made. Very nice.

  14. Prayers that the new med works like they should. I get those palp's off and on but I have a mild version of MVP (Mitral-Valve Prolapse). I ignore them. The metoprolol succinate eventually kicks in.
Beautiful sign! Now I want one. Actually thought about ordering one of those metal ones because here in the South we have brutal sunshine. Wood gets destroyed after about 5 years or so if kept outside.
You have a lovely, fun family. The photos made me smile too. Spring is almost here! Yippee! Y'all stay safe and warm. ❤️

  15. I am so thankful to the Lord for how things turned out with your trip to the urgent care and then the ER. I'm really glad they sent you to the ER because you were able to be relieved of some of the concern there. Praying that this new medication kicks in soon.

What fun to have all three of your kids and their families together under one roof! You are blessed, my dear friend. xx

  19. I am thankful Mari, that there are no serious situations going on with your heart and that hopefully the meds will make a difference for you. Like Ginny, when I saw the first photo, my heart jumped a bit. You do have beautiful family and how precious that you all were able to get together. Woodworking runs in the family I see. Beautiful work at that. It always blesses my heart to see families enjoying one another. Glad you all had this opportunity to do so. Take care of yourself.

  20. A scary trip to the ER! Glad you went! I know it was nerve-wracking when they thought I had the pulmonary embolism (mine was ruled out too). Hope it is just a change in meds, but best to have everything checked. Glad there was no heart damage.
And what a great "get well" gift to have your family gather! The address signs are wonderful but the photos are the best Smart granddaughter to make sure you got them all in the shot! They are so sweet and adorable and I think they resemble each other, too. And the ones of your children are great - especially the funny!

  21. You have a beautiful family, Mari! I know what you mean about not having everyone together very often! With Chris living in NH he doesn't get back here often. He and his fiancé will be coming her for a wedding in July and we will be taking a family picture!

  22. Oh yes, I'm glad your heart is ok. I have PVC and when it kicks up it's really scary!

  23. I just loved seeing all your family together. Looks like everyone was happy. And all those grandkids! Aren't they growing fast. You have such a nice family. Glad to hear your heart tests all turned out good. Dan has been going through some of the same but I'm afraid his tests aren't so good. He goes in Thursday for the beginning of a heart procedure.

  24. Oh Mari, I am so glad you are doing better and there's no damage. It was almost a year ago, I had a similar experience in the ER. I have those pesky PVC's in the upper chambers - mostly harmless for now. I have that loop recorder - and no meds.

What a wonderful visit with your son and dil. I can imagine how nice that was for you to have all your children together. Take care!

  25. I too had my own heart palpitations seeing you in the hospital bed.
I'm praying that the new meds will be just what the doctor ordered.
Oh that precious family of yours. What a wonderful thing to have them all together. I think my favorite is the "goofy" shot of the siblings. That's so Real and tells the story of family love. Oh yes, Connor laughing with the cousins is priceless too.
    (((hugs)))

  28. P.S. I got so caught up with all the happy family news and pictures that I forgot to address your medical adventure. I'm glad it's turning out to be okay. That was unsettling at the time, I'm sure! I'll be praying the new medication works well with your physical issues.

Happy to hear you got good reports on all your tests at the hospital. Now hoping your new meds work well so you don't have another scare.

  35. Nothing better than a full house! So happy that you were all able to get together despite the nutty weather. Glad to hear you're heart is ok, too! Sometimes the tests can be so scary when the results add more questions than answers. Hope the new meds are working and you are feeling much better!!

  39. Hi Mari! I hope you are feeling better now I also had to change my treatment these days and see if I feel better.
It’s nice to see your children all together.
My son went from Switzerland by train to Paris and see if he can go back to Dubai but I think it will take time and he will have to come home with us during some weeks.
Our grandchildren are with their mother and safe for the moment. I love the picture with Connor he is not crying this time.
