Spring Thaw at the Lighthouse

Last week I made a stop at the Lighthouse in Grand Haven.  The temperatures here have been over freezing so the snow and ice have been melting.

When I was here in February this channel was mostly iced over.

It was still cold and you can see there's quite a bit of ice out there.

This is the parking area I was parked at; winter winds blow a lot of sand on the roads and parking lots.

And here's one last view of Lake Michigan as I left.
I am thankful to see this view in all seasons!

  2. Lovely pics but I'm wondering who clears the sand from the road and car parks. I'm guessing it's the city council.

  12. Love these photos. They are so different from what I see every day. No snow or iced over channels. Beautiful and I do love that red lighthouse so much.
Hopefully Spring is on its way to you before too long.

  18. I love that blue with the red in the back. That blue, I'd love that in chalk paint. Actually, I have similar in Annie Sloan. So fun.

  19. Bob and I went to Grand Haven for a week in January back in 2008. We visited the lighthouse, but could not walk out to it because of the weather that day. The bright red lighthouse was cool to see. Our lighthouse on this side are white. Did you know our state has more lighthouses than all of the East Coast? Janice
