Winter is here

We had a fairly warm beginning to winter with not much snow in December.  But that has changed!  And I know a lot of you have been dealing with cold and snow too.  It's been cold in Florida and even snowing in Georgia!

Here in Michigan we've just had a very cold spell and some pretty snowy days.
Here's a few pictures to show you some views of our world in the last week.

The roads aren't always the best.

Sometimes the world looks black and white.

The view from our slider into the back yard.

Another view of the back yard in the morning when it stopped snowing.

It's pretty when you are looking at it from inside!  On these days I'm thankful to be retired and not have to drive to work.

  5. I know what you mean, when you're a child, you absolutely love the snow, then you grow up and have to drive to work in it, even when the roads are bad. After retirement you can slow down and enjoy the beauty all over again :) Great photos :)

  9. Yes so pretty when you do not have to drive in it. Am looking forward to next year when I can do the same. Your pics are very pretty. The ice came down here now in the river and jammed up which has caused the ferries to stop now. The islanders will need to wait for the Coast Guard cutter to cut the ice now. Usually one stays docked in town once arriving here for ice duty. Janice

  13. Those photos when you look at them - looks like time has stood still. I guess that is why we get excited down here in GA - it was so peaceful to just have to stay in without the rat race going on.
    BEAUTIFUL!

  15. Yes, it is definitely pretty from the inside looking out.
I have to say I'm glad we don't have snow where we live...no one would know how to drive in it anyway...
I enjoyed looking at your photos of the "cold" though.

  17. Red barns (or whatever that building is) look especially good on a snowy white landscape. Like you, I'm glad I don't have to drive in snow...

    Beautiful photography, Mari!

  18. Your snow pictures are beautiful... especially the one from your slider where there's some red popping through. Our roads aren't always the best either. We did make it to church yesterday and that was a blessing.

  21. Oooooo, that is a lot of snow. It is truly gorgeous as I love how it covers the trees and everything is glistening with white. We would be shut down for WEEKS here in Texas if it ever snowed that much. Texans do not know how to handle snow. haha. Enjoy..but stay warm!

  22. Your photos are beautiful. I like the scenery in winter, but I feel like I have less tolerance for it as the years go by! The past two weeks have been enough for me. lol

  25. SO beautiful!! And I'm glad you no longer need to drive to work each morning! We have snow, not as much as yours though. But it is SO cold!! I really have a lot of trouble staying warm even with layers on.

  27. I'm so thankful too that you are retired and have no reason to go out onto those slick roads. It is fun to have snow when there's power and noplace to go but the kitchen and back to your chair, hahaha! xoxo
